Summary
The explosive, highly anticipated conclusion to the epic Cartel trilogy from the New York Times best-selling author of The Force.
The war has come home.
For over 40 years, Art Keller has been on the front lines of America’s longest conflict: the War on Drugs. His obsession with defeating the godfather of the Sinaloa Cartel - Adán Barrera - has cost him people he loves, even taken a piece of his soul.
Now Keller is elevated to the highest ranks of the DEA, only to find that in destroying one monster he has created 30 more that are wreaking chaos in his beloved Mexico. But not just there.
Fighting to end the heroin epidemic scourging America, Keller finds himself surrounded by an incoming administration that’s in bed with the very drug traffickers that Keller is trying to bring down.
From the slums of Guatemala to the marbled corridors of Washington, DC, Winslow follows a new generation of narcos, cops, addicts, politicians and mere children fleeing the violence for the chance of a life in a new country.
A shattering tale of vengeance, corruption and justice, The Border is an unflinching portrait of modern America, a story of - and for - our time.

Writing by an author at the top of his game.
An exceptional book by a superb author. This is a story for and of our time. Heartfelt and heartwarming in these troubled times.

Good story, well read, but over long.
Einstein allegedly said that “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. The "War on Drugs" has been fought in the same way for 40 years with the same result, or more correctly the same lack of results. A quick scan of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime's annual World Drug Report will confirm that. This book describes the internecine wars of the Mexican drug cartels in graphic detail. It also describes in less detail the consequence of the illicit heroin and fentanyl imports on the USA. The book illustrates the futility of the "war on drugs" as it is currently fought.
I found the book overlong and some of the side stories could have been edited for length without loss.

Incredible
Loved it. Read a few of Don Winslow's book but this was my favourite. Amazing character development and plot. Loved the ending and fully agree and believe with the point being made about the failure of the war on drugs. highly recommend!

Brilliant conclusion to the trilogy
Beautifully told by the narrator this is the most powerful and absorbing novel of the Cartel trilogy by Don Winslow. I didn't think the other two novels could be bettered but boy, was I wrong. Simply stunning narrative. I cannot recommend this novel highly enough.

Amazing story - one of the best
One of the best fiction books I have ever read. Was worried about starting on the 3rd book. Don’t be. The whole comes together extremely well. The level of research and knowledge makes this book feel real, with every character well fleshed out and believable. Worth every minute of your time.
