Summary
The first time I met Brody Easton was in the men's locker room. It was my first interview as a professional sportscaster. The famed quarterback decided to bare all. And by all, I don't mean he told me any of his secrets. No. The arrogant ass decided to drop his towel just as I asked the first question. On camera.
The Super Bowl MVP quickly adopted a new hobby: screwing with me. When I pushed back, he shifted from wanting to screw with me to wanting to screw me. But I don't date players. And it's not because I'm one of the few women working in the world of professional football. I'd date an athlete. It's the other kind of player I don't date. You know the type. Good looking, strong, cocky, always looking to get laid.
Brody Easton was the ultimate player. Every woman wanted to be the one to change him. But the truth was, all he needed was a girl worth changing for. Turned out I was that girl. Simple, right? Let's face it. It never is.
There's a story between once upon a time and happily ever after...and this one is ours.

Great story
I loved the story and it kept me entertained almost all the way, BUT the male voice is ALL WRONG!
The story tells about a deep voice and manly man, but his narrative is by a quite squeaky light voice...
Made me hate his side of the story.

Loved this book
The characterisation was great, I loved most of the participants. The storyline was good but it was the developing relationship between the h/h that was the best.
Al!so the narrator's were excellent.
I really enjoyed it

Good story gripping
Mackenzie has a lovely voice and was very suited to the character. Sean voice sounds like an old man and spoiled the story.
Loved the story twists and turns wanted more.

First half was great
I was really enjoying the first half of the book until a 3rd POV was added, Willow absolutely ruined the book for me. I tried to continue as I wanted to know how the story ended but it was a struggle.

Loved it
It's been a few years since I read this novel and I really enjoyed listening to it as a re-read. I thought that the female narrator was fabulous. While I enjoyed the male narrator, I felt his voice didn't quite fit my idea of Brody. Nonetheless, the story was fab and overall delivery was great.

It was nice
This was a very typical Vi Leeland book. Two highly gorgeous characters that can't wait to jump one another, they just have a few hurdles to overcome before lust can turn into love.
I enjoyed listening and some parts made me feel very warm and fuzzy. If being honest, I would find myself becoming a bit bored and wishing that I had it in paperback rather than audio so that I could flick and skip.
The voice actors were okay and didn't distract too much from the story line, my only negatives are; the female voice, when she swaps between Delilah and Willow (two female leads, who have whole chapters in their pov) there is no alteration to her voice, which therefore threw me off a little when the POV's switched.
Personally I found the male voice quite irritating at times and nasally when putting on a girls voice. I didn't look forward to chapters where he spoke.
Overall very nice story. But I won't be rushing back to re-read just yet.

I Want The Cover For A Screen Saver
The description of the book covers the first few chapters. It made me think this was a cookie cutter story of the cocky bad boy chases the girl who won't drop to her knees at first meeting. Although this does happen it's just the shell of the story.
Brody is dealing with Willow a childhood to teenage lost love. Willow kept disappearing due to her drug abuse. After being gone for four years she reappears and wants Brody. Delilah is dealing with her own lost love. Her fiance Drew died 7 years ago in an accident and she's afraid of falling in love again, thinking she's betraying Drew. There's also Marlene, Willow's grandmother, whom Brody takes care of.
There's a lot fun sexual banter between Brody and Delilah. Brody is the typical male always throwing sexual innuendo's into the conversation. You can't help but like him. I also liked Indie, Delilah's friend. Indie just says it like it is.
This book took me on an emotional roller coaster of fun, lust, jealousy, loss of love, grief, and found love. It moves along nicely without a lot a internal angst.
Vi Keeland is fast becoming a favorite author. I have several of her books now and she makes sure she has the cream-of-the-crop performers for her books. Mackenzie Cartwright and Sean Crisden gave a fabulous performance.
Is it worth a credit....Yes, but I got it on sale for under $10. It was a steal of a buy but I would have used a credit. This is a book I will listen to over and over.
Oh..just an fyi....I did snip the cover and it's now my new phone screen saver, for now.

A not so simple but sweet story of enduring love
Vi Keeland has a way of writing that will completely ensnare you. Without knowing it, I got completely engrossed and rooted for the main characters. Along the way, there were some other people who came into play but being a true romantic at heart, I couldn't help but want Delilah and Brody to end up together.
The narrator did a great job truly "becoming" the main characters. This isn't my idea of a fairy tale story of love but it comes awfully close.... two thumbs up Vi!!!

Brode Easton!
I picked up The Baller because I wanted an easy, light hearted break in between some deeper listens I have been purchasing. That was not what this book was at all!!
Yes, it was funny and sexy and sassy and crass... All the things I had been looking for, but it was actually an emotional read as well! Maybe it's because I'm premenstrual, maybe it's because Vi is good at tugging at heart strings, but I was really impressed by the content of this audio.
I may not have been looking for this book, but I think this book was looking for me. I absolutely loved it.
Mackenzie was a dream narrator. When things got intense, her voice was so honest. I absolutely adore her. Sean was a great sexy, football playin, cocky, perv but his chick voice?? Omg. Nails on a chalkboard.

DNF
Three Audible hours into this story (out of 8 hours 50 mins) and I had to stop. I'm usually forgiving of a flawed hero, but Brody was unattractive to me because he treated the heroine, Delilah with disdain and contempt on more than one occasion while she interviewed him on live TV, and then expected her to date him. And his behaviour wasn't explained and didn't improve - at least, not during the hours I listened.
Sean Crisden, one of my favourite narrators, is flawless and perfect for Brody's voice, and his performance made me wonder if there was more to the offensive football playing Brody. Sean Crisden is the reason I listened as long as I did. Could there be hidden depth there? A tragic history he covers with a veneer of sexual aggression?
Mackenzie Cartwright narrates heroine Delilah's POV and does a good job too. She is also responsible for the voice of a new female character introduced part way through the novel who also tells the story from her own POV chapters. But there's no change in the narrator's voice so she sounds like Delilah. Why not use a second female narrator?
As good as they were, neither Sean Crisden nor Mackenzie Cartwright could engage me with this book - the story-line, regrettably, was not for me.
My recommendation is that it is worth reading the Amazon.com Kindle sample chapters for this book to help with the decision about purchasing it (I neglected to do that). The Kindle sample is longer than the Audible sample and you get a better idea for the tone of the story; and about the characteristics of the hero and heroine. It might be just right for you, but it was not a good fit for me. If you decide to purchase this novel, then I recommend the Audible version for the good narration.

BRODY IS A GOOD ONE LADIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What made the experience of listening to The Baller the most enjoyable?
It was sweet...I swear I thought my heart was going to implode!!!!
What other book might you compare The Baller to and why?
Its a sporty love story....filthy mouthed man with a heart of gold....there are many...but this was a good one!!!
Which character – as performed by Mackenzie Cartwright and Sean Crisden – was your favorite?
Delilah and Brody of course! They were good!! :)
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Oh when Brody told his cookie story, and When he told Delilah basically the ball was in her court!
Any additional comments?
I thought this was super duper sweet! Brody is a filthy mouth, filthy minded, heart of gold footballer...Delilah is a sexy, young sports reporter..they clash over and over...but Brody doesn't give up so easily....Delilah is on a man cleanse and tells him she is not looking for a casual fling...but she just cant resist him and finds out he really was worth it along! I think Brody is one of the sweetest characters....he completely stole my heart!!
LOVED IT!!! SUPER GREAT HEA!!! WELL WORTH YOUR TIME AND A CREDIT!!!!

loved this baller
I loved this book and it's sexy chemistry between the main characters! I enjoyed their cute conversations and interviewing each other as a way to better know one another. the story has meat to it and isn't a whiney romance that I am quickly tiring of=)
