About this listen
The life of a magician isn't all kiddie shows and card tricks. Sometimes it's murder. Especially when magician Eli Marks very publicly debunks a famed psychic, and said psychic ends up dead. The evidence, including a bloody King of Diamonds playing card (one from Eli's own Ambitious Card routine), directs the police right to Eli.
As more psychics are slain, and more King cards rise to the top, Eli can't escape suspicion. Things get really complicated when romance blooms with a beautiful psychic, and Eli discovers she's the next target for murder, and he's scheduled to die with her. Now Eli must use every trick he knows to keep them both alive and reveal the true killer.

an enjoyable yarn
I found this book very relaxing to listen too. And I liked the narrator. At first it is a tad pendantic but livens up as it goes along. Completely silly plot but entertaining. I got fond of the main character.

Great Light Murder Mystery
New author to me and only got as it was on Audible plus. So worth it. Gentle, humour, even made me laugh out loud at one point. The relationship between the main character and his uncle is brilliant.
A great gentle read set in the world of magic as a backdrop.
How you get knitting mysteries, sewing mysteries etc now you get illusionist mysteries.
Will be buying these.

Fun Book
Silly. but fun! made a lot of mistakes recently. Been downloading books I've not enjoyed. But did this one. A genuine American cosy book with some laugh out loud moments. The story is as unbelievable as the magic. But that is its charm.

a New Author and Narrator for me
I only had this book because it was included in the Plus Catalogue. I am glad I did, It is quite interesting to hear about the magic tricks, without giving away too many secrests. I have always been a sucker for Penn and Teller on the TV and also clever magicians. This was also an amateur sluth into the bargain. It is a very easy listen, so much so that I have got the whole series.
The narration is very good as well which makes it even more enjoyable, I shall look out more of Jim Cunningham's narrations.
Thanks Amazon loving the Plus Catalogue

An Ambitious plot makes for a great story
This is the first book by this author that I have read or listened too but it won't be my last, in fact I have already downloaded the next audio book. I enjoyed it that much. With so many magic books out there, usually containing witches, werewolves and other supernatural creatures, it was great focusing in on magicians of the human kind. I loved working out (and of course the explaining) of how the magic trick was preformed and it was all packaged into one captivating mystery full of twists. I had guessed who the killer was but it was fun learning if I was right. The mystery was interesting, especially the way magic and psychics etc was involved and made it entertaining. I liked the characters. Eli is a great main character and despite being a showman he isn't a show off at all and is very likeable. The author puts on quite the show with this book and I am off too see what he has up his selves for the next book.
When a tv show is filmed with the Psychics showing off his skills, Eli is asked to finish off the show and explain if what people saw was possible. He is able to reveal all with out giving away any magicians secrets but this leaves one very angry Psychic. That is of course until he is found dead with the King of Diamonds covered in his blood. The same card Eli asked him to find during his demonstration. Eli's ex wife new husband is the detective in charge of the case. Can his ex keep him out of jail? Then another Psychics Eli had just met is found dead with the same playing card. It seems somebody is trying to frame Eli for murder? Can be stay one step ahead and find the killer first?
I liked the narrator. He helped to bring the show to life and is quite the entertainer in his own right.
