Summary
Gangland boss Zander Finn is so sickened by the brutal murder of his son in a Paisley pub, he decides to change his life. Following the advice of his priest and mentor, he moves clandestinely to London and becomes an ambulance driver. But when his old second-in-command, Malky Maloney, tracks him down on a London street, Finn knows he must return. Both his real family and his crime family face an existential threat from Albanian mobsters determined to take control of the Scottish underworld.
Under the watchful eye of his charismatic mother, he must try to look after his lovelorn younger daughter and her older sister, who is pregnant to his old enemy Joe Mannion’s son. His estranged wife, who has more than just a business relationship with Mannion, and his remaining son, crippled while serving in Afghanistan, also require his attention. But most of all, he must take back what is his.
Critic reviews
"A rollicking rollercoaster of violence, misplaced loyalties and some very unexpected interventions that combine to produce one of the most satisfying gangland thrillers of the year." (Irish Independent)
"Meyrick’s breaking the mould with the latest offering straight out of the underworld of Paisley and the gritty streets of London." (Sunday Post)
"A winning combination of fisticuffs and philosophy." (Mark Sanderson, Times and Sunday Times Crime Club)

excellent
quite possibly Denzil Meyrick's best work to date, quite an accolade given his back catalogue. Quite possibly the best book Angus King has narrated, probably an even greater accolade given the variety of THIS back catalogue. First class all round.

My new favourite Author.
Can't believe I've only just found this author. Another gripping story this time in Paisley. The diversity of his books are amazingly good. I can't give much away as I feel it spoils the expectations. But not everything as it seems in gangland Scotland,

Drugs
I have enjoyed this authors other books, but have no interest in reading about a drug lord and his family. Fighting in barbaric ways to see who is king drug lord! This is not entertaining, but rather depraved.

A great standalone novel
This is a great standalone novel but is a little hard going in view of the gangster violence.

BRILLIANT!
Completely surprised by this one. It was absolutely fantastic. I picked it because I'd read good comments about the narrator and I'm so glad I did. I really enjoyed it. Never have I laughed so much at a crime book! Fantastically written and brilliantly narrated. Definitely worth a listen.
