Summary

Psychologist Margot Scott has a picture-perfect life: a nice house in the suburbs, a husband, two children and a successful career.

On a warm spring morning Margot approaches one of her clients on a busy train platform. He is looking down at his phone, with his duffel bag in hand as the train approaches. That’s when she slams into his back and he falls in front of the train.

Margot’s clients all lie to her, but one lie cost her family and freedom.

A fast-paced psychological thriller for fans of The Silent Patient.

Not at all bad - and free

Happy to have read this short novel while included in audible free listens - and it was worth a listen. If you enjoy a neat thriller then this will suit and I loved the unexpected ending. Most satisfactory so thanks audible.

Enjoyed this story

This had a nice pace and kept me listening although I did work it out early in the story. I would listen to another by this author.

Would have been a 3.5 without the twist at the end

I used this story to fall asleep to as it wasn’t riveting, just easy listening but I’m so glad I listened till the end because that was such a surprise.

Not bad, not great

Quite a good story line but also a little predictable, it was saved by the end though, I wouldn't rave about it but its worth a listen, especially as its included in the free listens

Utterly Compulsive! That Ending OMG

This definitely puts the 'psychological' in psychological thriller. Some great twists and a pacy story, I couldn't stop listening.

The strength of the story is it seems so normal, almost predictable but the deeper you get into it the more you realise something is not quite right...

My jaw is still on the floor

The best twists you really don't see coming.

I found this a nice read until half way through, then boom a big twist.

Then I thought "no more twists" then I got another slap in the face. A great listen, but one you must listen to all the way through.

Predictable

But worth the listen for the last four minutes!

The ending will knock your socks off...it is black hearted and

HOLY COW----AWESOME!!

I half wonder if the author wasn't worried about being predictable so the ending would knock the socks off listeners.

Narration not the best, but not so bad I couldn't power thru.

Breathless Psychological Thriller

Starts as a slow burn mystery and grows more intense as the plot moves along to a breakneck crescendo. Also love when the Audible Original offer is a full book.

Misleading Plot Summary

Of course many readers were surprised by the ending. The plot summary says, in part, "That’s when she slams into his back and he falls in front of the train. Suddenly, one tragedy leads to another leaving her, her family, and her patients in danger.'

Um, no, the remainder of the story did NOT follow from that. That actually came at the end. Totally misleading.

Other than that, the story was still completely unbelievable. Nobody would act like that over and over.

I understand why some female reviewers are annoyed with this male portrayal of the incompetent woman. Me, too.

Enjoy this gem from March Originals 👍

Anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers and excellent, well-paced narration, will be pleased to have selected Tell Me Lies as one of March's Audible Originals.

Sometimes readers can find some real gems offered in the Originals section. This was one of the longer choices at just over six hours so listeners will find they have arrived at the end in no time. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Omg the ending floored me!!!

I'm hard to please but have to say this was gripping right from the start. Yes, there were a few
very minor plot holes, but, it's pretty darned perfect thriller. And ...what a mind bender of a trip!
Wish all the thrillers were this good, this immersive, and shocking! Kudos to the author for completely gobsmacking me.
