Summary

I didn’t mean to say I was engaged to a hot billionaire–it just slipped out.

In my defense, I’d had a really bad haircut, a really strong drink, and I was trying to save face in front of the Mean Girl at my high school reunion.

Lucky for me, I happen to know a hot billionaire. Hutton French and I have been friends forever, and even though big social gatherings are not his thing, I called him from the coat closet and begged him for a favor–show up and play my fake fiancé for the night.

Except that word of our engagement spreads like wildfire. Our families are ecstatic. We’re front page news. My little food blog is launched into the stratosphere.

Of course, I offer to set the record straight right away, but Hutton wants to give it a little time–the phony engagement will keep his matrimony-mad mother and every matchmaking granny in town off his back.

He even suggests I move in with him to make the ruse more real.

And we don’t stop there.

We practice kissing. Undressing each other. Saying things–and doing things–we’d never dare if we weren’t pretending. Because it’s all for show, right? We’re just role-playing. Hutton doesn’t want a real relationship, and I don’t want to get hurt. But the more time we spend faking it, the more I start to wonder.

Could Hutton French and I actually be right for each other, or is it all just one big tease?

Best friends to lovers

Tease is book 3 in the Cloverleigh Farms Next Generation series. A best friends to lovers story that will leave you with smile. I love having another glimpse at past favorites from the Cloverleigh series. It’s like visiting with old friends. Tease was a wonderful addition to this series. Samantha Summers and Oliver Clarke did an amazing job with the narration.

Enjoyable listen!

Felicity McAllister and Hutton French have been best friends since middle school. She attends their ten-year high school reunion and finds herself trying to impress the mean girl. She tells an outrageous lie about marrying a billionaire (Hutton) and begs Hutton to help her out to save face.

I love how they decided to keep the fake engagement going and both of their families didn't even question it. They knew the two were meant to be together. (Why didn't Felicity and Hutton realize this?)

Hutton has social anxiety. He doesn't like crowds, talking on the telephone and has OC tendencies. Felicity is awkward and adorable. As best friends growing up, they both had feelings for each other, but never acted on it. Now, as adults, it is easier to try a relationship when they both think it's fake for the other person.

I really enjoyed this small town, fake fiancée, friends to lovers romance. I listened to the audiobook and both the narrators were really good.

Ok but I was bored most of the time…

I really wanted to like this book but I just couldn’t. I was bored half the time and it was honestly a chore to finish. I don’t want to give it a 1 bc it has some good qualities and I love the previous books in this series but I couldn’t bring myself to like this one 😬the narration was good tho!

Giving up...

Sorry, Melanie! I have really enjoyed the Cloverleigh Farms series, but after almost 90-minutes, I'm shelving this one. These are both new narrators to me, and while Oliver Clarke is tolerable, I personally do NOT care for Samantha Summers' voice. It's a bit too "teenage" sounding and doesn't appeal in an adult romance (for me). Even more sadly, I haven't found the story/characters to be interesting enough to hold my attention.

Great Listen

Laugh out loud moments, awkwardly relatable characters, steamy scenes, and excellent narration. This story of friends to lovers in a hometown full of busy bodies is a delightful listen.

Love it

I always love Melanie Harlow‘s books but this is the one I love the most. It had so much emotion into it and I found myself relating a little to much to Felicity. The voice actors are phenomenal
