About this listen
The deadliest secrets are hiding in plain sight...
When Abigail McGowan is reported missing in a bleak Lincolnshire blizzard, DI Freya Bloom and DS Ben Savage are called in to begin the hunt. With worsening weather and almost nothing to go on, the futile search begins. Search teams, dogs, and the local community all rally together to find Abigail McGowan. Until the moment they were all dreading happens and a body is discovered, discarded in an old disused drain.
But when Abigail’s father announces that the body isn’t Abigail, the investigation takes a turn for the worse—and the turns just keep on coming.
Who is the girl in the drain? Where is Abigail McGowan? And how are the crimes linked?
With the bad weather closing in, Bloom and the team race against the clock to bring the killer to justice, and find Abigail—dead or alive.

The stories are realistic to the area, the characters are interesting and the plots are feasible. I have worked out a couple of the perps towards the end of the books, but not easily.
The narrator is good with accents, although his Welsh one was a tad iffy in the first book (it’s been perfected since!) and he doesn’t screech unbearable falsetto female voices like some readers do.
Altogether a very acceptable series and well worth listening to.
