Summary

As ruthless apprentice to Darth Vader, Starkiller was mercilessly schooled in the ways of the dark side, commanded to exterminate the last of the purged Jedi Order, and groomed for the ultimate Sith power play: Assassination of the Emperor. He served without question, killed without remorse, and lost his heart without warning to beautiful Imperial fighter pilot Juno Eclipse, never suspecting that he was just a tool in the schemes of his masters - until it was too late to escape their lethal betrayal.

Juno mourned Starkiller as dead...but now he is back, purged of all memories and programmed to kill. And as fate brings Juno and Starkiller closer to reuniting, with Darth Vader determined not to lose his assassin a second time, they will both have to make a stand. The prize is freedom. The punishment for failing will be eternal enslavement to the dark side of the Force...

quite good but dragged a little

Interesting story. Narrative dragged a little at times. Gives a bit more back story to the rebel alliance

Smashed it again!

What a book! The Force Unleashed 2 is just as good as the first! Can’t fault this at all. If I had to be picky, it would be the fact that the descriptions of various scenes took longer than needed (a little bit Tolkien shall we say) but apart from that, brilliant!
I have new found loathing for Vader! He is nothing short of an ar$ehole. He will not do anything that puts him in harms way and disposes of anyone he no longer needs! Superb writing if you can make anyone feel that way about a character!
And starkiller, I felt every emotion he went through! Absolutely brilliant narration by Davis! Superb!

Enjoyable book continuation from the original Star Killer

Only slight niggle is the reader says ‘lived’ at least 3 times incorrectly. He say lived like a live electrical wire with a d at the end.

I’m surprised both he and the director can’t pronounce words correctly!

Otherwise hats off to them great performance and another great book from a great author.

Amazing Story

It adds so much depth to the game as well as side stories, I wish they at least wrote another book to conclude the story, even if they have to classify it as legends, I want a conclusion! The cliff hanger is too great!

Great Book!!!

I am a huge fan of the Force Unleashed storyline. I love the story of Starkiller and his relationship with the different characters in the two book / games. It is very easy to get attached to the characters and you can't stop reading because you want to find out what happens in the end. I highly recommend this book to anyone. Of course you will need to read the first book first which is also great. It sucks tho that there isn't an unabridged version of the first one there is only abridged. Last thoughts... I can't wait till the game comes out and I hope to see more books revolved around these characters. Buy the book or download this now!!

A weak story

Jonathan Davis shines while narrating, but not much can be done about the weak story... while the original Force Unleashed was a good story full of plot twists, revenge, betrayal and adventure, this sequel reads as just traveling from point A to point B, with nothing more than select appearances from established characters... plus, from the ending of the novel it's implied that a last sequel (hopefully) is due. I hope that they polish that last one a bit more...

The video game again, huh?

This is an unabridged complete and coherent book as opposed the abridged prequel. Like the first book, it also contains the voice changes and sound effects that make this series seem so alive. I highly enjoyed it and only failed to give it a five star rating because the audio mix at times is questionable (the sound effects drown out the narrative at two distinct points). I honestly wish they would make more novels from compelling video game story lines. This is a nice piece of work by Sean Williams.

An Awesome Side of the Story You've Never Seen

With amazing descriptive detail, we not only hear Starkiller's story, but also Juno's. Absolutely amazing.

A Great Follow Up

Thi is a great book and an engaging story. Even has a great cameo! The only problem is that there seem to be quick silent pauses that interrupt the flow. Worth your listen. Get Book one or you will be so lostQ

A great addition to the Star Wars Universe!

I just love the full cast of actors and the sound effects that make the story come to life and immerse you in the Star Wars Universe. As a whole it's awesome!
I'd recommend to all who enjoy a good story full cast dramatization and sound effects, like scifi lovers and especially of course Star Wars fans new and old alike.
This was a blast to listen to and felt like I was in a movie not just watching or in this case just listening to one persons account/view or telling a story that they heard.
This is an example of how all Audio books should be made! I feel like it's a whole experience when it's done in the way this book was done here so keep up the great awesome work Audible!!! Make more like this and PLEASE GIVE ME MORE! Four thumbs up!!!

A book or a video game?

I liked the first book in the series but this one reads like the entire story was concocted to justify a second video game. For example in a scene where he fights clones of himself and the rancor-eating monster, I couldn't help thinking how this would provide the game's near-impossible to beat "boss" levels. Sure enough I buy the game and find these sequences so difficult I gave up playing it. It's not the first book to inspire a game but I got the distinct feeling while reading this one that it was the other way around.

As in the first book, Darth Vader is portrayed as a second rate force user who is tossed around by Starkiller like he is nothing. It is very different from the way Vader is portrayed in the Star Wars movies and a bit disappointing...again.

Overall I'd say the series is going downhill. I think I will stick with the other Star Wars titles from now on. Like most Star Wars fans, I like almost anything set in the Star Wars universe. This one may be a bridge too far.

"Happy?" Ending is a little...forced.

Not sure how the ending could be resolved with the rest of the StarWars cannon. If the story was meant to work with the original Expanded Universe (i.e. not Disney's vision/version of StarWars) I can't see how it would work without tragedy or hand-waving.

Fanboys & girls avoid

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

People interested in a Star Wars story that resides outside the canon.

Has Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, in fact, since I have read part one and listened to part two, I would like to see how they wrap this up. Part of the allure of listening to this book was that it is unabridged.

What three words best describe Jonathan Davis’s voice?

Enjoyable, appropriate, easy

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Star Wars. Some nice cameos and possibilities have been established, but the main characters are not legends in the Star Wars canon and it is kind of hard to create a legend with a prequel, especially when it is based on a video game series that is mediocre.
