About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
After the events of The High Republic: Convergence, the Jedi travel to Jedha in this Star Wars audiobook original.
Jedha. The worn streets of this ancient world serve as a confluence for the galaxy. Visited by all, yet owned by none. Here, the Jedi are but one creed among many worshipping and studying the Force. From the Guardians of the Whills to the Path of the Open Hand, countless beings come to learn, and to share, in peace.
As all of Jedha prepares for its Festival of Balance, the galaxy still reels from the violence on Eiram and E'ronoh. But after foiling a plot to escalate the war between the two planets, the Jedi believe that a lasting peace may be within reach. Master Creighton Sun and Jedi Knight Aida Forte arrive on Jedha with delegations from both planets to formally end the "Forever War". The Jedi hope that the harmony of Jedha's many factions, along with the signing of a peace treaty, will create a symbol to the rest of the galaxy of what can be accomplished through unity.
But not all are happy with the Jedi's involvement or ready to concern themselves with peace. Rumors begin to swirl that the Jedi bring war in their wake. The distrust and anger that for so long fuelled the Forever War now threaten to corrupt the communities of Jedha. When violence breaks out on the sacred moon, the war that was meant to end on Jedha may soon engulf the entire world.

In other words every line starts and finishes with a "hehehe" and "ho ho ho" like there is a constant joke going around,
Its just bad voice acting for dramatizing this story. I think its best left alone for future star wars books.
If it wasn't for the above, the book would be an hour shorter and more enjoable.
If your a fan of dramatized audiobooks, avoid. Only get if you are a fan of Star Wars and don't mind the new Disney Canon and high republic series.
Good Story, Just ruined by silly Voice acting

The story jumps well between a good number of perspectives as we build up to and fight through the conflict. It's a lot tighter than previous moments in The High Republic, like Rising Storm and Fallen Star, there are often too many characters to jump between.
Jedha succeeds as an audio play by having unique actors embodying the roles so jumping around is a lot easier.
I really enjoyed this story and look forward to where the aftermath takes us.
A pressure cooker of a city is about to explode

The storyline was very enjoyable from start to finish but the path of the open hand, god damn were they annoying but I like seeing different perspectives on the force. The war between the neighbouring planets was definitely fitting/relevent in our current real world climate and the escalation was built up perfectly the mystery of the bombing and the fallout played out perfectly, I thought it was very engaging and as I said before thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish.
A cool experience especially as an Audiobook. I'd definitely give it a 9/10 or 4.5/5 Stars Highly recommended. I just hope the other books in Phase 2/ the rest of the Era are just as good.
An engaging Mystery, with a hard-fought battle!

Weak for Star Wars

Too many heroic and earnest speeches.
Someone dies horribly? It's ok, he's with the force now.
Impossible dilemma? Trust in the force, it will guide and deliver us...
The dialogue is so bad and so dire. It makes me want to use as many expletives as possible - just to emphasise my point. The voice actors performed a story more fit for a kindergarten than anything else.
Jeez... I still can't how bad it really was.
The absolute WORST Star Wars audio book ever! (with even worse acting and dialogue than The Acolyte!!)

Don't bother!

There tend to be 2 types of star wars books, those in which a good writer concentrates on 1-2 characters (usually interesting ones established in films), focuses on what they're doing and has the occasional slice of other perspectives for context, and those where the writer/writing group make up 5 protagonists and a mass of side characters who you don't care about because we don't get to know them and they're typically poorly writen.
this is the latter.
The writing is so full of cliches it is infuriating. The performance of the cast is poor, though mercifully not just Marc Thompson overacting every line.
Not good
