About this listen
Dan Walker is back, determined to keep shining a light on the kindness, compassion and selflessness which continue to characterise so many people and their actions right across the country.
As one of the UK's leading journalists, Dan has made it his life work to focus on people who often act as the catalysts for change: the unheralded champions who frequently go without getting the recognition they deserve.
The new audiobook from the author of the best-selling Remarkable People contains a totally fresh batch of humble heroes whose actions, bravery and determination have helped shape their communities.
Standing on the Shoulders asks who are these little-known marvels and what makes them tick? What do they have in common? What can we all learn from them? Is there something special in the chain of events? What does it take to make a lasting impact on others?
History can be cruel and forgetful to those who don't shout about their own success or good deeds, but Standing on the Shoulders is a beautifully written and illuminating celebration of ordinary people and the extraordinary things they do. It is also a timely reminder of the goodness and positivity that drives us forward during challenging times.

Powerful stories
All of the chapters are very moving. I was especially struck by the painful stories of the three dads. Everyone chose to keep going and not give up despite unimaginable grief, pain and suffering. I also found the stories around forgiveness quite extraordinary - that it was possible even after such wrongs were done to be able to forgive.

Absolutely brilliant Dan
Yet again another brilliant anthology of remarkable people and their lives. Perfect narration. I am glad that you are gifted with the talent to communicate their stories so we can all understand the truth behind what is portrayed.

Some wonderful studies of people and how they have gone above and beyond. Why they stand out and why they are held in the highest esteem.

Tears and laughter
I loved Dan's first book. This has been a great second book. Amazing stories of people's lives. This show the people behind the headlines. There were times whilst listening that I just cried. Dan has an amazing talent in giving people the chance to talk openly.
As well as a few tears, there were also lighter moments that made me laugh.
Listening to Dan's voice is like listening to a great friend telling you a story. His genuine interest in people's lives comes through.
When's the next book out!

If ever you doubted there was hope….
You need to listen/read this book….you will be left in no doubt whatsoever there is always hope. Loved the first book and hearing the stories of the remarkable people, however this book is full of people who had every right to give up hope, bury themselves away and shun the world forever….instead they are doing amazing inspiring things..thanks Dan for bringing them and their hope to life

Incredible Stories, Beautifully Told
Just like in Remarkable People, you not only get a sense of how inspirational and determined those featured are, but also the sensitivity and genuine kindness of Dan. I hope we get lots more like this from him.
