Summary

Naughty girls need love too.

A beautiful monster, that’s what I am. My packaging is just a little nicer than the creatures you hear about dwelling in your closet. With three baddies for my mates, things are definitely getting interesting. I think I’ve even convinced them not to kill each other.

But I have a new purpose, someone is hurting our kind. Stealing Charmed magic in arcane rituals that leave my friends drained and dead, and I won’t allow it. It’s time for them to find out why even the Monsters fear me. I am the bad guy.

Companion novel to Friends with the Monster, this is an RH story with adult themes not recommended for those under 18.

Another great story

What another great story, I love how Vanessa Moyen and Lucas Webley brought the characters to life and I love how the male characters are actually read by Lucas with his sexy voice that you'll just love and I think they both did a great job. I loved everyminute with Dami and her men and there antics through out the story but also the love they have for Dami as they go searching after the witch who has been killing charmed one's but also loved not knowing what would happen right up until the end and I'm also a little sad that it's over as I loved it so much.

Great ending

When they find Antonio the witch who has been stealing magic from the charmed he isn’t who they thought he was. Really enjoyed this book and I had a giggle at a few scenes .

Brilliantly narrated sequel.

Loved this story so much, I got it Audible too and it did not dissapoint. The narrator gave the story the right magic it needed to tell this story, written briliantly, the narration just adds more to the some kind of monster series.

Yawn

Gosh, that was hard work. How did such an exciting start in book 1 turn out so boring?

I’ll tell you how: by making the action so few and far between that there’s barely any plot. And no, the gaps aren’t filled with hot scenes. There are a bunch of those, but there’s also so much filler that I completely lost interest.

I won’t give anything away, but there’s a big section at the end that describes a major event that loads of people go through. It’s not written in a way that’s exciting or entertaining — it’s just boring as hell.

Enjoyed the first ....

I enjoyed the first installment of this book , but thus one let me down. the story line seemed rushed and the plot was neglected. Big positive? Lucas Webley's narration.

MC got annoying fast.

If you are walking down a street and you run into an a-hole, then you ran into an a-hole. If you are walking down the street and everyone is an a-hole, then maybe YOU are the a-hole.

I feel like that saying best applies to this book’s MC. She is obnoxiously belligerent in this second book. I’m only half-way through and I’m having a hard time getting through it because of how lame she is.

I LOVED the first book! Sure, she seemed to embody the toxic, patriarchal spirit of competition with anyone else who could compete with her sexually, but I was able to overlook it because she also had some really tender, vulnerable aspects to her. No one is perfect.

Except in this book, she is apparently perfect, because all of the male characters bend over backwards to defend and validate her childish antics.

She shows next to zero self awareness, is petty, jealous to the point of deep insecurity, and combative with SOMEONE in almost every scene, even when no one deserves it. Especially when no one deserves it. I really hope this is a character arc thing and not a permanent fixture of her personality, because, again I LOVED the first book. But if this is how it is going to be from here on out I’ll be done with this series.

I should be rooting for the MC but instead I find myself desperately wishing someone would slap some duct tape over her mouth or teach her some humility.

Gonna finish this book. I’ll change my review if anything changes, but, like I said. Half-way through. Not terribly optimistic. WHY, Albany Walker?? Is this the type of person you think is reading your work? It’s almost insulting to the reader. How am I supposed to relate to this?

Sex and Monsters

Book 2. I like the basic plot of this story. Our heroin shows emotional growth and continues to be direct and funny. She treats her relationship with her men in a healthy way finding balance and one on one time. This books character development was good but the story wasn’t as good as the first. It felt rushed at the end. I did enjoy seeing the quadruple grow into a functional family. But the story was really only the last 2 chapters.

PERFECT DUAL NARRATION

I LOVED that the male narrator only read the guys’ lines, and the female narrator did the rest.
🙌🙌🙌
I wish more audiobooks used this narration style!!So we can avoid listening to grown men trying to do girly flirtatious voices, or ladies making male love interests sound like grandfathers that smoke a pack a day.
(Not that there’s anything wrong with either..
I just find it distracting during romantic scenes. Lol)

Such a great conclusion!

Some Kind of Monster picks up where the first book left off seamlessly, with all the hijinks of the four characters intact. The search for the evil witch (with a great plot twist at the end), the friction between the men settling into more like sibling rivalry, Dami maturing and dropping some her her annoying habits all makes this a book I couldn’t put down. Then add the depth of Dami and her harem and friends becoming one integrated family and you have a true HEA all around.
The performance is spot on, with the voices and emotion of a on-stage play. I hop there will be more!

The plot was lacking.

There was so much potential for this book, but it lacked imagination. The sex scenes were super spicy, but there is no purpose for the characters. The heroine is all powerful but she does nothing with it. She is fated to three amazing supernatural lovers, but it doesnt make it clear why? She gets pregnant, but the baby doesnt seem to have a purpose either. Its just one big happy orgy.

Series Finally

2nd book in the series:
Damiana will not take anyones' sh#t
Her journey of protecting her friends and all monsters comes to an end with a sweet gift finishing up the series.

Grim is still my favorite.
Gunner isn't brought up as much in this book.
Calix is still a sweet flirt
Sadly this series has ended, but I am looking forward to reading more from Albany Walker.

The book covers are amazing and Vanessa & Luca's narrations are perfect.
I read both through audible.

Can't some books just STAY sexy?

I enjoy the saucey bits of the story -- the narration is good. The story is good overall, a little simplistic as far as plot goes, but honestly that's not why I'm here. The sexy bits are well written and spicy... However, spoiler warning, the addition of the main character getting pregnant was a massive turn off. This may not bother some people at all, but for me, it completely soured the rest of the book. It completely shifts the focus and intent and left me almost not even wanting to keep listening because it felt so forced. WHY is it such a crutch for authors who wrote these sexy stories to fall back to the main female character getting pregnant unexpectedly and developing such joy over it. I get the character growth concept, but does it always HAVE to be through the addition of a baby?? I'm here for the little bit of plot and the sexy parts of the story and the relationship between these adult characters... can't any of these series just leave it at that??

Narrators are everything

I resubscribed to audible for this book and finished it in the same day as download. Lucas Webley is a master at narrating. They’re both fantastic really, differentiating characters is easy and helps you really immerse yourself into the story. It’s hard to remember all of this is 2 people.
The plot was slightly lacking, I feel like it was more focused on the wolf thing and the witch plot was rushed at the end. Still a good story and I feel satisfied having finished it. I wish I knew what the creatures were, I’d love to know what cryptid uncle and cici are. Everyone else was explained but some other characters weren’t which was disappointing. At some point I’ll dedicate an entire day to listening to these books together.
Thank you narrators for a fantastic performance.

Love the caracters

So I love the MC she is perfect. I wish I could find out more about there lives before. Why they turned out the way they do. I also feel like the second book leaves a lot to be desired. That can't be the end of the series but it feels like it is. Things are all wrapped up in a neat little bow. Left me feeling disappointed.
Love the narration.
