Summary

Sisters Kitty and Jenny haven’t spoken since a very disappointing Carvery lunch. Kitty, 62, thinks Jenny is turning grey. Jenny, 66, thinks Kitty needs to grow up!

So when both sisters inherit a farmhouse in rural France, it gives them the perfect chance to heal the rift between them. Except the farmhouse is a wreck, the garden is terrorised by a flock of chickens, not to mention a donkey with a serious flatulence problem!

Kitty is determined to enjoy herself, especially when she meets gorgeous French builder Leo. Ooh la-la! And Jenny finds the fully stocked wine cellar helps enormously with missing horrible husband Paul - hic!

And as the two sisters begin to repair their fragile friendship, they discover that being bad is actually very good for the soul.

Critic reviews

"Maddie Please's latest novel Sisters Behaving Badly is a glorious romp that readers will adore. It's a story of quarrelsome siblings, second chances, a fabulous location and growing old disgracefully. Maddie's warmth and humour will put a smile on your face and leave you relishing Kitty and Jenny's hilarious adventures in a French farmhouse." (Judy Leigh, best-selling author)

Great tale

Loving sisters falling out how very true to life. I wouldn't like to spoil the tale for another reader. They made me laugh as well as feel their pain.

Good but ….

So I might be a bit critical here, but it was a little burning if I’m honest.
Good book, well written and good narrator, but still a little boring. Why on earth were they going on about the wine chateau names on the bottle…? (And I’m a massive wine snob) but there was just no need.
Ohh well … to be honest it is a great bed time listen for this reason.

loved it

I loved this book. I laughed and cried out loud at different points, recognising myself in some of kitty's life story .. it's full of love, loss, resentment, forgiveness and learning to understand a siblings view of life, both growing up and as an adult and it's not always as it appears. The Narrator was great and brought the characters to life, I look forward to more books

Enjoyed

Enjoyed the story very much. The narration was good. A few dodgy french accents but that was good too.

Pleasant and enjoyable

Likeable characters, evocative descriptions of France and an overall feeling of bonhomie. A pleasant and enjoyable book about two sisters in their sixties rekindling their friendship. I’m not entirely sure if they “behaved badly” as the title suggests but it didn’t seem to matter in the end.

Disappointed

Expected this book to be as good as The Old Ducks Club which a throughly enjoyed by this author but i didn’t find it nearly as good. It just went a long at such a slow pace and nothing really happens at all that I found myself wanting it to be finished.

An enjoyable read for a woman in her 60s

An enjoyable read for a woman in her 60s. Excellently narrated. It was a pleasant change of pace to have a story with my peers as the main characters. And hearing the descriptions of French country living was like being transported there.

This is a first!

No other book has made me long for a cottage in France before! This one ticked all the boxes for me: lovely story with just enough ups and downs and delightfully rich characters. With the audiobook, narrators don’t come better than this one! Very nicely done. I dreaded the end of this book, as it meant my visit was over. I do wish for more!

Perfect

Loved this book, almost didn’t listen based on the other reviews however, it was perfect. Laughed out loud at the very English jokes and sense of humor that I miss growing up in England, I must be getting old. The story was very relatable. The narrator was excellent. Will likely listen to the others by Maddie Please.

British accent is hard to understand

I think I would have liked this book but the strong British accent of the narrator was hard to understand. I tried 3 different times to listen and ended up not finishing the book.

Sisters Are Forever.

Sisters Kitty and Jenny haven’t spoken for years when they inherit their aunt’s house in France. As they restore the place for sale they rediscovered their live for each other and their enjoyment of life. A great story.
