Story
Hell Island does not appear on any maps. It is a secret place where classified experiments have been carried out. Experiments that have gone terribly wrong. When all contact with the island is inexplicably lost, four crack Special Forces units are dropped in. Their mission is to land on Hell Island and discover what has happened. Nothing can prepare them for what they find there. You could say they've just entered Hell. Only that would be wrong. This is much, much worse.

Struggling to start your story or lost in the middle? You need a story pitch. Building on the lessons taught in The Five Day Novel, Scott King dives in on how to start the pre-writing process for your novel with a special tool called a story pitch! A standard pitch is meant for marketing and selling, but a story pitch is a powerful tool meant to be used when pre-writing and writing. It can help you jumpstart your novel, screenplay, comic, or whatever type of story you are trying to tell and it can be used as a corrective measure if you get off track during the writing process.

"Writing is structure,” William Goldman said, but too often aspiring writers plunge into their work without grasping this fundamental principle. Story structure is one of the most important concepts for a writer to understand - and ironically, one of the least frequently taught. In this book, New York Times best-selling author William Bernhardt explains the elements that make stories work, using examples spanning from Gilgamesh to The Hunger Games.

Summary
Among the names on the target list, one stands out. An enigmatic Marine named Shane Schofield, call-sign: Scarecrow. No limits. And so Schofield is plunged into a headlong race around the world, pursued by a fearsome collection of international bounty hunters - including the "Black Knight", a notoriously ruthless hunter who seems intent on eliminating only Schofield. The race is on and the pace is frantic as Schofield fights for survival, in the process unveiling a vast international conspiracy and the terrible reason why he cannot, under any circumstances, be allowed to live...
He led his men into hell in Ice Station. He protected the president against all odds in Area 7. This time it's different. Because this time Scarecrow is the target.

Another great romp that never stops
Matthew Reilly Delivers another fast paced gripping tale. The reading is first class and the speed of the novel means there is never a good place to take a break. I have slowed down en route to appointments to make sure I got through a particular bit.
This is a bit darker than the previous 'scarecrow' novels and there are a few nasty surprises in store for the listener. If you have heard the previous stories in this series then stop reading tis review and download this one NOW!!

Another Awesome Schofield Story
As ever, Matthew Reilly delivers another incredibly thrilling story. This was the first Schofield book I read after picking it up in a second hand book sale some years ago.
I'm pleased to say I'd forgotten some of the detail in the intervening years so being able to fully experience it again was a complete joy.
Sadly when I get to the end of these books, I always feel "Well, what am I going to do now?"

Good but could be better
Well written, fast paced an enjoyable read, but... My only complaint is the incredible escapes that the Scarecrow has from danger. Once in a novel is OK but repeatedly the Scarecrow makes his escape in feats that defy basic physics. They make James Bond novels/films tame. I believe this diminishes the books in a way that is unnecessary.
Worth a listen? I would say yes but what could have been a great book at times becomes ludicrous which is a shame.

"Matthew Reilly Version 2.0"
In Matthew Reilly's words this is the beginning of "Matthew Reilly Version 2.0". This is even faster, the plot is stronger and the scenes as unbelievable as ever. A great fun read and listen. Sean Mangan reads it well as usual. A group of corporations called M-12 create a game where bounty hunters have 15 targets to kill and collect money for. All targets need to be killed by 12 noon the following day. Scarecrow is one of the targets and along with Mother, Gant and a new character nicknamed "The Black Knight", he sets out to foil M-12's plans and save the world once again.

Anyone who reads or listens to the news and/or has any global community awareness will hate it. I didn't even finish listening to the book which is a first for me. It was simply dumb.
