Summary

It was an open-and-shut case when 18-year-old Hannah Docherty was arrested for the brutal murder of her family; she's been incarcerated ever since. When psychotherapist Frieda Klein is asked to assess Hannah, she reluctantly agrees. What she finds horrifies her....

Frieda is haunted by the thought that Hannah might be as much of a victim as her family. Frieda soon begins to realise that she's up against someone who'll go to any lengths to protect themselves....

Yet again an excellent Nicci French crime novel

Another excellent book in the series. The length of these books makes them ideal for audio performance. Again, the narration was spot on.

Enjoyable series - great book

I’m enjoying the adventures of Freda Kline - though the previous two books were a bit drawn out I felt there just wasn’t enough happening to completely hold your interest. Not so with Saturday really pacy with lots of twists. Looking forward to the conclusion and Sunday.

Another excellent listen

I really enjoyed this with Beth Chalmers as the narrator excellent as always. The story didn't ring quite as true as some of the earlier ones in the series but it kept me engaged until the end.

Maybe take a little longer with the next one

Great characterisation, with the usual team, and in many ways a strong storyline, but...

The ending is rushed and totally wrong. I want clues and the ability to second guess, this seems random and mechanical.

Another strong Frieda Klein story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, although it is helpful that I have read all the previous FK books and have come to know the characters

What other book might you compare Saturday Requiem to, and why?

It stands on it's own for me. The author has done well to make this character so well liked in light of the fact that she is so controlled and disciplined.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

None stood out

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No

Any additional comments?

While it did not disappoint, it is not the best of the Frieda Klein series.

Heart wrenching

Well read story with a few far fetched elements but a pull on the heart strings for someone who is mentally ill. Can't say much more without giving the game away!

OK but a little similar to previous volumes

Would you consider the audio edition of Saturday Requiem to be better than the print version?

can't say only ever listen to books very rarely read an actual book

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Carlson, and Joseph, although they didn't feature quite so much this time, if there is going to be a Sunday, and I hope there will be I think Frieda needs to get a bit of OOOmph

Have you listened to any of Beth Chalmers’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Yes, up there with the best, she has such a lovely reading voice..

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, not at all I like to savour the stories from Nicci French

Any additional comments?

Yes, not as good as previous instalments a few similarities to the storyline, definitely trailed off towards the end, and a bit of a mediocre ending to be honest

really good listen!

loved this book, kept me engaged all the way. Interesting characters, well rounded. Even though this was the first book by this author that I have read it didn't atter that it was part of a series. the notes given in the story kept me up to date with the plot. loved it!

Miss Marple

A little Miss Marple ish! And far fetched. Otherwise a good listen and escapism. Enjoyed the book.
