No one is more shocked than Ginger Mitchell, former call girl, current PI, at how well this whole crime-fighting thing is going. In the short time since she returned home to Portland, she’s taken down an entire crime ring and exposed a corrupt police department. Not bad for her first year on the job. But it’s not like all that success made Ginger’s life easier. Hired hit men are after her. Darlene, the boss who killed her mother, is still at large. Ginger’s brother is missing.

Story
Just yesterday, Ben was a petty criminal getting by on fleecing New York’s one-percenters. Today, he's got a new face, a new name, and a new world to navigate. And Ben’s thinking maybe this time around, he’ll use his skills at disarming and deceiving to help out people other than himself. Maybe. Watching a medieval City Guard fight off a 20-foot-tall ooze that crawled up from the sewers will make you think twice about life decisions.

Story
She appeared out of nowhere. A chance meeting. And then she was gone, abducted. The shadow crossed in front of the car so fast I didn’t have time to stop. I hit the brakes hard and swerved into the mud at the side of the road. Looking out through the deluge it was difficult to make out the figure coming towards the driver’s window, but as it came closer I could see it was a girl, just a kid. Instinctively, my hand went for my gun and rested on the grip as she approached.

Summary
Secret societies, serial killers, and a seriously snarky PI.
When Ginger Mitchell finds out her mother committed suicide, she packs up her life as a Vegas "dancer" (hey, somebody's gotta do it) and drives her cherry-red SUV straight home to Portland. Without a disapproving mom to rebel against, what was the point?
When she arrives back in her hometown, she finds a lot more going on than fancy food trucks and put-a-bird-on-it hipsters.
Murders are being passed off as suicides. College-aged women keep going missing. And then there's the troubling spate of mobsters who keep inviting her out to eat.
With a pile of cash saved from her last job and no one around to tell her not to, Ginger decides to become a private investigator, to find out exactly what's gone wrong in the City of Roses. First up: Her mother's "suicide."
Includes the first six novellas in the Roseland series, Home Is Where the Start Is, The Ruth Is Out There, The Body in the Pool, Amber Alert, Jane Dead, Welcome to Roseland.

Eric Ugland does it again -- well for me anyway..
Brilliant characters and story, really engaging, this to me is a series that should be taken to TV. Wonderful storylines with characters you wish to engage with.
Ex escort PI lives in house with ghost of mum and gay ex marine Somalian house mate, takes on the corrupt local police and the russian mafia. What else do you need/want.. well worth the money and time.

Holy Shit! Ugland you go boy!
If the title to this review is too much for you, then, this book might not be for you. If you are reading this review because the title got you to this point, then, this book is for you!
This book totally surprised me over and over again. Each time I thought I was impressed soon, as I read, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed all over again. The seamless immersion into character depth, character relationships and an interesting and totally believable storyline kept me GLUED to this book.
If you you have read Ugland in the past, he carries that enthusiasm and "thinking outside of the box" writing right with him. I would have thought a hot chick with some energy and gumption wrote this if I did not pick up the book because Ugland was listed as the author.
I listened to the audible book. the reader was the best that I have heard in a long time.

Virtue signal much?
Good story, but wow, I haven’t heard so many cliche tropes in one story, ever. This reads like a male feminists perception filter and given the propensity for male feminists to be rapey pedometer [sic] types, I am mildly concerned about the implications...
Not bad but so predictable it is a boring story.
Kinda disappointed.

Great Detective Book With Some Supernatural
(What I liked)
Candace was fantastic in this. (My first time listening to her)
Ginger Mitchell is snarky, funny, sharp and knows how to put herself in the criminal shoes to catch them.
There are six cases in the book. Each are 2 to 5 hours long per. (Fucking awesome)
And no time jumps between cases so far. (I really hate time jumps)
(What I didn't like)
Chapters are really short and theres 227 chapters
Like no chapter longer than 15 minutes and chapters shorter than a minute
(But I started to like it so I don't know why I'm writing this)
Overall first non litrpg Eric Ugland book and I'm really enjoying it.Love all the characters and cases didn't over stay there welcome And the main character has this I've seen it all feel to her then 5 minutes later she out of her league. My favorite case is Amber Alert
Apologies for my shit writing

So good
Alright so I was debating on this book for a good while should I get it should I not I kind of Go for fantasy and scifi also supernatural this book does have some supernatural aspect Which I wish it Said it did But it doesn't
Pretty much the characters in this book are so enjoyableThe main character is very likable She pretty much goes on cases and I do mean cases She's not a Martial arts fighter or any ability of the type I don't want to say too much but if you want a Enjoyable story to listen to and likable characters get the book
There is only really one sex scene in this work and that's in the beginning and it's really not Anything

If the author's lit RPGs stories drew you in prepare to be disappointed and let down. This story shares none of the creativity, wit or entertainment of his lit RPG work.

C’mon Ugland. Couldn’t finish book one because of the unrealistic injection of woke standards of inclusion. Made a potentially great story dumb. Try again cuck. Whomever advised you to go this route should be fired with prejudice. Good/bad guy series are excellent.
