Summary

Ava Barlow hates men. She has reason and she’s vowed not only never to get involved with another one again, but also to exact vengeance on her best friend’s lying, cheating, rat-bastard husband. Since Luke Stark, Ava's childhood crush, is now a badass mother, she thinks to enlist him, but changes her mind at the last second. Too late. Luke knows she’s up to something and he’s already seen many a Rock Chick try to fight her own battles without the Hot Bunch stepping in. He’s having none of it. She’s having none of him. The clash of the Rock Chick and Hot Guy begins, but Luke’s got the advantage. He has handcuffs and he’s not afraid to use them.

Obsessed with this series

I do love the series even if all the female characters are very similar (stunning, kind, sassy, witty and get into a lot of trouble) and so are the male characters (gorgeous, macho men, over bearing and relentless in pursue of the female). There are also a bunch of ludicrous situations and dialogue. But, somehow, KA makes it work and this book is no exception. Light, funny, hot and addictive.
Suzannah Jones is AMAZING, all of her voices are spectacular and she can go from emotional to sassy and witty like no one else. LOVE LOVE LOVE THE NARRATOR

Favourite

This one is my favourite of the series. Love me some LUKE STARK. Love Luke enough to forgive all the macho pushy borderline stalker, bully man disguised as love behaviour that came with the books proceeding this. So I braced myself for it, but guess what....I did not have too. He was not over the top at all just man enough for me. In fact it was Ava who was a tad annoying for me.

Glad that they worked it out in the end. I will for sure repeat this read.

Yet another fantastic storyline

I love these big buff Alpha’s. They certainly know how to look after their women. Ava is a strong woman who is soft in all the right places. Yet another brilliant performance from Susannah.

Rock Chick Revenge

I <3 all the Rock Chick books as you probably can tell. Ava’s book is good not my favorite we haven’t gotten to that one yet but she is a contender.

Ava and Luke’s Story

She I think fights her pull to the Hot Guys the most of all of them. Maybe it was her self-esteem because of her weight before. Maybe it was because Luke knew her when she wasn’t the way she is now. I don’t know… But what I do know is Luke is one hot mother… He doesn’t care how much Ava fights he is there to show her he cares. He wants her IN his life. This quote I think is why she fights it so hard.

‘Because worse than never getting what you always wanted was having it and losing it.’ - Ava

As I am a plus size girl, I totally relate to all of Ava’s struggles she got called names at home by her sisters. Mine happened at school. She had a huge crush on the boy across the street; I had a huge crush on a boy in the next building. Maybe this is why I loved this book so much and I think everyone who believes in fairy tales and second chances or childhood crushes needs to read this book.

‘I was never going to tell him it embarrassed me that he held me when I was Fatty Fatty Four-Eyes. No way I was going to tell him that I lost weight, dyed my hair and got contacts because I’d been in love with him since I was eight. (he wasn’t wrong about me being his, but I wasn’t going to tell him that, either) and I wanted him to notice me.’ - Ava

I think what I like best with all the struggles they all go through in this book, the Rock Chicks still make Ava apart of their inner circle its totally awesome. The girls get into some shenanigans.

“Let’s talk about why Smithie’s in a tree.” – Luke
“That’s why I’m calling. Two German Shepherds have treed him in a stranger’s backyard. He was canvassing Noah’s old neighborhood. I’m not clear about how that happened, but the dogs aren’t happy and we can’t get him down.” - Ava

And Luke finally gets Ava to stop fighting and just be, once this happens it’s fun and funny and witty. Not that she goes docile because hell no I don’t think Ava will ever be the docile kind of women. She just stops fighting their relationship and then the good times come. :D

“Tell me, and I swear to God, I’ll make it so you won’t be scared ever again,” – Luke

Swoon, right or am I right!!
Again the narration I can’t get over how she makes everyone unique, but not only that even “Good Ava” and “Bad Ava” were super distinct I was never confused! Amazing.

LOVE the whole RC series!

This one's my favorite, though I love the whole series. Thinking back through all the books, I think this one is really the last one that has a lighter plot line with more humor in it - the first book being the lightest plot-wise, with some hilarious one-liners, imo. The tone of the 2 books after this one is much more serious, with heavier story lines. The last book, Ally's story, lightens back up some, though. Great story lines, fabulous, hilarious, quirky characters, throughout the series. Some of the characters cuss like crazy (for those readers who may take offense, do be aware that there are lots of J/Cs and G/Ds thrown around at times), others cuss very little. There are also multiple sex scenes in each book, book 1 being the least graphic. What I really loved about these books though was the combination of humor, good-old-fashioned fun, action, and romance, all mixed in with a little mystery/suspense. For me, 8 books just wasn't enough! I devoured each one 'til I got to the last book, which took me over a month to finish, simply because I knew it was the last one, and I didn't want it to end. Sadly, I've read some of KA's other works, and while they're fine for what they are, typical romances, I haven't found anything else yet that mixes humor and fun in like she does with these books. The Rock Chick series simply ROCKS!!

If you want to swoon ... meet Luke Stark!

Any additional comments?

**kindle and Audible editions - whispersync**

Can I get a WOW accompanied by a HOLY F?

We all know that you can swoon over fictional characters but seriously Kristen Ashley? Luke Stark is a GOD among fictional characters. There are women right now comparing the men in their real lives to him. Good god… this book!

I have to admit that at first, I didn't quite care for Ava. I found myself yelling out loud “oh come on, woman” (a la Tex) more so than I had at any previous Rock Chick heroine. I thankfully got over it probably a quarter of the way through (not the yelling, but I softened towards her quite a bit).

I liked how she was relate-able, more so than some of the other RC heroines.
I liked how she struggled with herself, not understanding herself currently as she is mentally stuck in the person she perceived she was before.
I loved the history between Ava and Luke.
I loved the old fashion parking lot throw down.

Alright, alright. I just down right loved Luke Stark! The glimpses, bits and pieces that we saw of him leading up to Rock Chick Revenge were sweet, touching and kick a**. Nothing compared to what we got of him in this book.

I also really love how you don’t lose track of the other characters as you move through the series. They are all up in each other’s business and there is no chance to forget about them, and this is really special. I haven’t found another series that pulls this off to such a degree, and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for the Rock Chicks and the Hot Bunch.

So, thank you Kristen Ashley for giving us such amazing characters. As much as they can get on your ever-loving last nerve, it is a bunch of people that you fall in love with during this literary journey.

Good but Not so great

I was a little annoyed with Ava, who lived too much in her own head, good Ava fighting against bad Ava all the time.
This Rock Chick is not as good as the previous ones, less suspense and heart break, just a damaged ego fighting for the love of her life since she was a child (too much for me, actually)
Still worth listening as Luke was such a macho man hot guy and kept the story somehow good...

Burst my Bubble

I was so looking forward to this book about Luke. He was my second favorite. I feel out of all the guys he got the worst women. And Luke deserved much better and smarter. Ava is 29 and acts like 15. I am not done with this book. Will probably fast forward and just listen to the last 2 chapters. I cannot believe KA wrote this so poorly. I'm so disappointed in this book. It makes me want to stop the series. But I still want to know what happens with Maze and Hector. I just hope their women are not like Ava.

The Barlow Bitches....

I enjoyed Ava's character. She was a previously overweight teenager with a low self esteem. Ava has been in love with Luke Stark since she was a young girl. She has the most evil sisters and a Mom that pushed her Dad away when she was just 14 years old. The only one to stand up for her in her life was Luke.

After attending Luke's dad's funeral and overhearing her sister's put her down yet again, she sets a new plan in motion to loose weight. Succeeding in her weight loss, the new Ava still has the old low self esteem of the old Ava and a new hatred for men.

After swearing off men, the new Ava enlisted the help of Luke and Nightengale Investigations for her friend Sissy. Sissy's husband is a total jerk and ends up dragging Ava and Sissy in the middle of it all.

I enjoyed Ava's little war with herself using "Good Ava" and "Bad Ava". I laughed and at times yelled at her to "Wake Up"! As usual, I love the characters that Kristen has created. I continue to enjoy this series and it was fun getting to know these two. There love story was fun and of course at times trying. I had fun getting to know Ava and watch her character grow.

Again, Susannah Jones does a stellar job with the narration.

Another good Rock Chick story

What does Susannah Jones bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings the characters to life and makes the book more exciting. She seems to keep the characters' voices consistent from book to book; a plus in my listening experience.

Any additional comments?

I love the whole series and how all the characters continue to play a part in each successive story. That said, sometimes the heroines are a little annoying. Good Ava and Bad Ava is a little overdone. Overall, though, Kristen Ashley novels are almost a no-brainer purchase for me. If the genre is right, I'm there!
