Summary
Leah Buchanan's family has been in service to vampires for five centuries. Even so, Leah wants nothing to do with her family's legacy. But when she's summoned to her Selection by the Vampire Dominion, under familial pressure, she has no choice but to go.
Lucien has been living under the strict edicts of the Vampire Dominion for centuries but he's tired of these ancient laws stripping away everything that is the essence of the vampire. So he's taking it back. And this is because Lucien has been watching and waiting for decades for Leah to become available for a Selection and he will not be limited with what he can do with her. He will have her, all of her. Therefore, Lucien is going to tame Leah, even if he gets hunted and killed for doing it. What neither Leah nor Lucien expects is the strong bond that will form between them, connecting them on unprecedented levels for mortals or immortals. And what will grow between them means they will challenge their ways of life and their union will begin The Prophesies which makes them one of three couples who will save humanity or die in the effort.

This is a fabulous book!! Listen to all the good reviews!! Yes Leah is slightly annoying but tbh Lucien is so arrogant he deserves her distrust and her being stroppy. At the end of the day folks it's very entertaining!! Best vampire paranormal I have listened to in ages!!!!

Enjoyed it a lot
It is an interesting story and quite different compared to KA normal genre but I enjoyed it. There parts that are a bit difficult to stomach that the author can get away with because it is a fantasy book. The Narration by Abby Craden is superb, I will definitely look for more books narrated by her.

Wrecking ball of a story.
Finally a book I have a real relationship with. I both love to hate it and hate to love it. The story is beautiful. But I can not take more of this angst and drama. I feel like this book held me hostage for a year. Which is the time it took me to finish listening to it. And finally I am free. Yes, I need the rant. Finally the day has come. I have no idea how often I have started on this book. It is glorious. The beginning is awesome. The end is rewarding. The heroine is totally wonderful, the hero is hot and glorious, and such an ass. If you feel like getting emotionally drained, this is your book. Just be warned the story is 16 hours and 26 minutes. With an awesome beginning and rewarding end, it is about 12 hours of passion and angst. Which is totally awesome. But emotionally draining. The narrator is out of this world. Which is why the story is such a nerve wrecking obsession. The author is truly brilliant too. Flawless story in every way. Beautifully written, with lovable main characters and host of supporting cast in an epic tale. Highly recommendable. In a year or so I will buy the rest of the series. Am that curious. But highly doubt I will ever read this story again. I am exhausted.
P.s.
Sorry, forgot to mention one of the best parts of the story. Humor. The story has this part comical heroine, she is absolutely fantastic. As one would have to be to get kicked out of studies for passing notes, at 40.

Not a favourite
I love Kristen Ashley but I did struggle with this one. Part of the problem was getting my head around the idea of the MC being tied into the situation against her will which I'm not sure sat with me very well. The second was a narrator issue. Overall, the narrator was great, a calm voice that read the story well. The thing that irked me was the voice she used for the MC. You're told early on that she is 40, but the narrator voices her as if she's in her early 20s. Perhaps a minor issue but it meant I had to keep reminding myself throughout that she was older which took me out of the story.

I so wanted to love this but Leah...
I really wanted to love this book because K.A. is the best and she never disappoints...however the first 7 or 8 hrs of the book was extremely painful ALL DUE to Leah. She was painstakingly annoying. I know the point is that she is headstrong and afraid to love because she doesn't want to get hurt but MY GOD she was EXHAUSTING.
And honesty this book was a bit redundant. I'm gonna stop here because I don't want to be too negative on a K.A. book but I just couldn't act like it was all good. Let's just say Lucien kept me listening.

Hoping their story continues in the next books
I cannot believe I am going to make this statement about KA book but, in this particular case, I think this story ended too soon. I am hoping their story will be continued in the next couple of books because there is too much to come that was not shared. I truly think that this is likely the case. I am off to the next book, in the three, and I hope you choose to come along for the ride.
PS: My only complaint is the choice of the voice, used by the narrator, for the Heroine. It is a very immature voice for someone who holds 1/6 of the future of the world, in her hands.

Third Time Not the Charm
This is the 3rd book by this enormously profligate author I have tried to read. It is the first I finished, but barely. It is the last one I will attempt.
In the first two books I tried to read I thought she was over-wordy and tried to hide the lack of real plot and meaningful characters behind overly descriptive text.
The plot of this book called for detailed description. Since it had a fantasy element she needed to do some world building. But she did very little, so it was impossible to make believable characters in a world that was apparently identical to our world, except there were demons and vampires, we just hadn't noticed coexisting with us.
And she seems to use older than average heroines, which on one level I applaud. But especially in this book, her 40+ year old main character came across as an immature and ditsy 18 year old, and that is being generous.
By the shear volume of books she has released in the last few years, she must push one out every month or so. And it definitely shows

A new take into the vampire world.
FYI The Author warns us that our Heroine is shallow, and emotionally stunted and why, not too far into the book. She evolves through some harsh realities, and with a little help from a few key characters. These character traits evidently amused the big V. If you have everything you want, what will wake an 800 plus year old vamp up.? All about making the Big V smile in a good way, if he is in the room, let alone near your throat. Evidently a 40 year old female who has tizzy fits. does the trick.. Some were lol funny some were just smugly. There are secrets that are revealed about the race but oh so slow. I kept thinking well darn, share that and avoid some of those untoward reactions. The story line is good. I am off to get the second book. The narrator is fine, just a bit of tin and tone off sets. But nothing that grated. Listen to the first chapter and you decide.. I am interested enough to see where this lands. I like the author. Just not every book. But when she hits it's outta the ball park. This one , we'll hope the second baseman is ready to run. Happy reading.

40 Year Old Child
I haven't returned a book in over two years but I'm really considering it. The only thing that made this book was the narration and the alpha male. The female is 40 years old and through the majority of the book she is childish...well she didn't seem like she was 40. I got so tired of listening to her that I mainly fast forwarded until finally I was done with the book. While the premise was good the female character was lacking. I will not be continuing this series but will continue to be a KA fan.

Brilliant and unforgettable!
My biggest complaint about this series; there are only three.
If you enjoy fics with supernaturals, look no further. These are the books you've been waiting for.
Kristen Ashley writes romances with a depth and breadth of emotion that you can't help but be moved by. Her stories and characters are not easily forgotten, and leave you wishing for more every time.
Sexy, touching, adventurous and sassy, her worlds and characters are created so beautifully, you can't help but wish they were real. I'm so thrilled Audible picked these up!

Heroine is the worst!
I love KA. Love her! But this book was terrible. I'm sorry. I hate to leave bad reviews, but you need to be warned.
The heroine (Leah) acted no older than 10 years old. Getting kicked out class for passing notes, texting, and spit balls.
Yes. Spitballs.
Vampire Hero thinks she's adorable. Everyone thinks she's adorable. She absolutely wasn't. At all.
There wasn't a single time in the story she didn't do something that was utterly stupid.
Vampire Lucien is the usual KA Alpha Male and he was ok.
Narrator had a beautiful female voice, but her male voice was awful!! All would be well until she had to switch to other vampires, then I couldn't believe it. I'm so sorry! I just couldn't handle it. it was like nails on a chalkboard. I love voice actors. You guys are amazing to do what you do, but I just couldn't handle it in this book.

A painful listen, 4 hrs in, can't take anymore
What was most disappointing about Kristen Ashley’s story?
The story had a good premise, but the female protagonist was whiny, and a spoiled brat. A 40 year old woman should've been more cunning, reacted with more intelligence. She acted like a 12 year old. Sophomore effort on KA's part. Disappointing.
What character would you cut from Until the Sun Falls from the Sky?
Leah
