Summary

Lieutenant Alexander Colton and February Owens were high-school sweethearts. Everyone in their small town knew from the moment they met they were meant for each other. But something happened, and Feb broke Colt's heart; then she turned wild, and tragedy struck. Colt meted out revenge against the man who brought Feb low, but even though Colt risked it all for her, Feb turned her back on him and left town.

Fifteen years later Feb comes back to help run the family bar. But there's so much water under the bridge separating her and Colt, everyone knows they'll never get back together--until someone starts hacking up people in Feb's life. Colt is still Colt, and Feb is still Feb, so the town watches as Colt goes all out to find the murderer while trying to keep Feb safe. As the bodies pile up, the feds move in, and a twisting, turning story unravels, exposing a very sick man who has claimed numerous victims. Along the way Feb and Colt battle their enduring attraction and the beautiful but lost history that weaves them together.

Great story, some production issues.

The usual Kristen Ashley format that lovers of hers will enjoy. Feel good story with a set of interesting characters that you can feel will lead into other stories. The narrator also has a great voice for the storyline, unfortunately there are really long pauses during the reading and the noises of her swallowing which could have easily been removed in post production. This was quite irritating and I found myself quite distracted by these moments.

This was intense and as usual KA delivered. Love the ending after all those challenges and painful discoveries.

Enjoyable, easy listen - you know where it's going but I'm not looking for something ingenious from my audiobooking want help switching my brain off rather than on!

The perfect audiobook

I've previously read this on ebook but narration enhanced this wonderful story even more. The narrator was excellent and portrayed emotion, feeling, sarcasm so well.

Adult language

Frequency & use of foul language spoiled this book and storyline was not diverting enough to make it possible to ignore foul language which did not seem to enhance storyline in any way I could not finish this book and will not be reading any further in the series. Would have been nice to have been warned about language, you can skip words when reading but with audible much more difficult.

Drivel

What disappointed you about For You?

The story of some horrific murders was totally dismissed in favour of hero worshipping the main characters continuously, quite bizarre.

What was most disappointing about Kristen Ashley’s story?

The insulting terminology in relation to the male/female relationship was unbelievably misogynistic, the frequent references to women as mere sex objects was toe curling.

How could the performance have been better?

Start from scratch!

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not that I can think of.

Any additional comments?

Avoid like the plague

Are we still in the 1970s?

The storyline had promise but the focus on the two main characters and their relationship is utter rubbish. Way too much of the book is describing their 'perfect' qualities written in such an unbelievable sexist way I actually had to look up to see if Kristen Ashley was in fact a man whose hay day was in the 1970s. Overuse of certain phrases and immature grammar made this book painful to listen to.
