Summary
Anya Gage has learned that to get anything good in life, you have to work for it. She has no expectations, no dreams. Then she finds herself at a party where she doesn’t want to be, and she meets Knight. Knight Sebring knows who he is, what he wants, and what he likes. And he gets it. But he never expected something as sweet as Anya Gage to wander into his bedroom during a party he did not expect to be having to borrow his phone. Knight tries to leave Anya to the life she deserves, with white picket fences and a man who watches football on Sundays - good, normal, and clean. But when Anya comes to his nightclub and finds herself in a situation, he knows someone has to look after her. He can’t fight it anymore and decides that someone will be him. Knight teaches Anya that just as with the bad, in life you should also expect the good. And he teaches her this by giving it to her. But Knight has a dark past, and just as he desires Anya for exactly who she is, he fears that when she finds out exactly the man he has become and always intends to be, she’ll leave him for good, normal, and clean.

Very disappointing from a favourite author
What was most disappointing about Kristen Ashley’s story?
The two lead characters were unlikable in that Knight was beyond dominant, he was bossy and chauvinistic. The female lead had no backbone, no redeeming ability to stand up to Knight. Their pet names spoiled the story completely, they made me completely uncomfortable as they crossed the line of acceptability in my opinion.
How could the performance have been better?
Less simpering
What character would you cut from Knight?
Knight!

Fabulous read!! Knight is seriously sexy, swoon
Loved, loved, loved this book. Girl at a part and bumps into the a moody guy. Not thrilled his brother is throwing a partying in his pad again. He drives the girl home as his brother clears up his pad. Next chance meeting between the couple happens at his club, he arranges a date with her and a very steamy romance starts from there.
Gripping story with dark undertones. Not your usual romance. Great read! Highly recommend.

Great audible
I loved this book when I read it. Listening to it whilst reading or just listening in the car I thoroughly enjoyed it either way. The narrator has great expression and complimented the story even more. Knight and Anna are a highly enjoyable couple to read and listen to. I love this book and now the audible version has just enhanced my experience.

Great story, well read.
Knight is my favourite Kristen Ashley man so I put off listening to it as I didn't want *my* Knight ruined. I didn't need to worry, Savannah did a great job.
Kristen is a wonderful story teller and her books create people and places so well. With this book she demonstrates how an image can hide the depth of a soul and remind us to look beyond the visible.
Thank you for bringing love to even the darkest corners.

Would you consider the audio edition of Knight to be better than the print version?
i have never read the print version so can't comment
What did you like best about this story?
not sure really, he was so dominant and bossy which I can't agree with
Which scene did you most enjoy?
no favorite
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
no
Any additional comments?
the story is good and narration is good too but it just lacked something for me, I was waiting for something to happen that never did. The sex was steamy but it left me hanging

Knight and Anya
Knight is the only one of KA's unfinished hero's that I struggle to connect with. That said an enjoyable tale and I really like Anya, she is Knight's perfect partner.

A reread that is still good
This story is interesting as KA is dumbing on BDSM and darker themes too. I enjoyed the story even if this is not amongst my favourite. Anya is a bit annoying (which appears to be the case with most women in this series) and Knight is a massive ahole with control issues.
Good romance.

OH KNIGHT KNIGHT KNIGHT YR SUCH A YUMMY BAD BOY
Now there's Alphas, Uber Alphas........ and then there's Knight. He's handsome, sexy, rich, a Dom in the bedroom, talks like a biker with short cropped sentences, he likes things his way and he's decided Anya is his. Anya has had a tough life, she's a hard worker, she makes do with sale stuff, secondhand or damaged furniture and is scraping by. She's also studying and won't take handouts from anyone so when she tries to return something to Knight..... well that's when her life completely changes..... and when all the fun begins.
Loved the hero, loved the heroine, loved the storyline which had instant lust, a bad news brother, two best friends - one's great but one's a disaster, lots of hot sex with a bit of spanking and dirty talk. There's angst and drama as Knight's secrets are spilled and a few revelations when he decides to 'put things right' in his own way with anybody who's caused Anya pain. They are both very protective of their blossoming relationship and try very hard to make time for as many booty calls and together time as they can.
Told from Anya's POV by a skilled narrator who gave a great performance of Knight's distinctive way of talking and his 'take no shit' alpha attitude. There's also a very sweet and tender Epilogue.
Worth a credit? I couldn't stop listening, it ticked ALL my boxes so YEAH, IMO, what's not to love and well worth a credit.

If I Had a nickle for every "Oh My God!" Ugh...
Where do I begin... First off, there were so many "Oh God!" and "Oh My God!"'s that I didn't know what to do with my self. And what's with the "yes daddy" bit? I thought that was a bit corny. I can't even tell you how many times I rolled my eyes listening to this book. I need an eye exam to make sure they're ok. Throughout the book I kept asking myself, "Should I just call it quits now and end the torture or should I finish since I've gotten this far?" The story line was ok, but the dialogue was horrible. This book had definite potential. Too bad the dialogue and inner monologue of the heroine sucked so bad. Sigh...

Awful! Awful! Awful!
What would have made Knight better?
The whole book was just crude. Lose the crudeness. Many, many authors write this type of book but I don't find myself cringing from the dialogue. Knight liked the "c**t" word a little too much. He'd used it derogatorily, then uses it with Anya. Yuck! Knight not calling Anya "Babe", wanting her to call him "Daddy", letting his boy greet Anya with "Yo" and telling her to prepare herself for him to plunder. I don't know why but Anya calling him "Honey" drove me up the wall. Lose the forced sounding slang. Lose all the useless descriptions (took the canvas bag of groceries out of the cheap car trunk and placed on the concrete sidewalk or something along those lines, build scenes not entire movies) and not having three pages of character thinking to answer the question asked three pages ago. Cut out some of the "Oh Gods" and "Oh My Gods". Anya is an educated woman, she should be able to come up with a better expletive every once in awhile. I even got tired of the word "strappy". Cut out going on and on how poor Anya is: the chipped furniture, the second hand clothes, the ripped couch, the cheap shoes, yard sales, etc... We get it, we get it! No nice woman, like Anya is supposed to be, would say, ****SPOILER**** "Do you sell pussy?" Even though Knight was ****SPOILER**** an upper class pimp and club owner, he was a likeable guy who protected women. That was acceptable. Anya was written a little too shallow and I find that unacceptable. She was supposed to be this awesome, nice, unaware of her beauty, make-it-on-her-own-modern-day woman who happened to be a submissive. This book made her sound like an empty headed follower. Ms. Ashley should have used some of that scene description effort on character building and a backbone for Anya. The idea is to be submissive not a doormat.Find a different narrator that doesn't sound like "Golly Gee" is about to pop out of her mouth any minute.
Has Knight turned you off from other books in this genre?
It missed on so many levels I would not consider it part of any genre, it is in a class by itself (very crude) which I don't care to explore again. As far as rich guy, poor girl, dominate and submissive relationships, BDSM, romantica, erotica, no, I will keep reading.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Sounds too young and has too much enthusiasm in the wrong places. She would probably be an excellent narrator for a different type of book, maybe something lighter with no sex scenes. She separates her characters well and does a good job on male voices.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Knight?
The final scene or****SPOILER**** whole baby scenario. Also, what happened to Sandrine? She kind of got left hanging out there didn't she. Maybe she's got her own book coming up but I won't be reading/listening to it.
Any additional comments?
I want my money back.

Not my cup of tea
Let me start by saying: I dont like women being called b*#ch, even as a term of endearment. In my opinion that is neither sexy or romantic. I tend to like a wide variety of romance and erotica though, so I thought i would give this a shot. but I had some fundamental issues with the world the author created, as well as the naivety of the heroine. These things pulled me out of the fantasy being created and left me frustrated.
I will also say, the writing itself isn't bad and I did finish the story, although reluctantly. I kept hoping the relationships between the characters, and the characters themselves, would get deeper. But what you see is pretty much what you get. Now if your into stories about gangsters or perhaps if you enjoy MC club books you might enjoy this. Also, this narrator isn't my favorite, which also impacted my review.
I do think there is an audience for this type of book. This one just wasn't for me.

Not appealing
I like K. Ashley books in that she normally has mature characters that I like. They tend to have a little too much of the f...k word but I can cope, I am not a prude. That line "...I did what I was told ..." is overused usually by the female. Okay, all of that I can overlook. However, what turns me off completely is in the scene of lovemaking Knight commands Anya to call him 'Daddy'. It is a serious turn-off and I hope I don't see or hear it in any of Ashley's other books. I doubt I will bother with the rest of this series. There were other things about the characters that was just not appealing like Anya's meekness and Knight's side business to name couple of them but I will stop there.
The narrator did a great job. That much I can say.

Choppy
struggled to finish. not sure about the flow of dialog. Somehow no one in the story was able to use complete sentences. While this is something I can deal with usually, it seemed unnecessary this time.....

Trying too hard to compete with 50 Shades of Gray
I love Kristen Ashley because she develops such well rounded characters, but although these characters are well fleshed out and generally compelling -- the focus on Knight's dom proclivities and an excessive number of sex scenes make this book tiresome to listen to.
I wanted to get to the story, but I had to listen to all the details of their sexual encounters first. I was afraid to fast forward past all the f___ing and c__k s___ing and other coarse and churlish material in case I might miss some detail that was important to the story. If I had been reading the book myself, I could have skimmed past the incessant, crude sex scenes, but with audiobooks you don't have as much choice.
I am as bored with the popular bandwagon of S & M "romance" novels as I am of vampires and teenage wizards. I just want a good story with well written characters. KA used to deliver that. I hope the rest of the series is not all about sexual domination.

Knight Stars
This book blew me away for the second time. I am doing a series re read to get to the final book which I have not read yet. And why not do a re-listen right?
For me Knight is one of those characters you love or you hate. I happened to love him. He is the protector in my eyes. Sure he can be force full and manly. Duh that’s what I love about him.
And I love him for Anya.
She has had a pretty upsetting past. Her parents died suddenly and violently. Her aunt was not a nice lady. Anya had to fight for everything she has and she doesn’t put that blame on anyone. I think that’s what I loved. She was independent and sure a little insecure but she never let anyone see that until Knight.
I also love that when Knight started to pursue her she didn’t put up to much of a fight because hello holy hot man on legs wanted to protect and take care of her. And she hadn’t had that in a long time.
‘Seriously, how could one man be so awesome and so crazy all at the same time?’ - Anya
Knight having money, he doesn’t open up to a lot of people because a lot of people just want something from him. But when Anya steps in to his bedroom and was honestly sorry she was in his space he had to take a second look. Was she what she appeared to be?
“The first voicemail you left me, I saved it and I listen to it once a day.” – Knight
The trust and love these two grow to have is beautiful. I will admit the “Daddy” thing bugs me in other books.. but in audio and with the way it’s written to this one.. Heck I want to call Knight – Daddy!! Holy HOT.. Yep Knight converted me..
I also really enjoyed Savannah Richards performance in this book, she was breathy where she needed to be and it wasn’t over the top. I loved it. Her voices for all the characters were perfect in my opinion, but I like just about all audio’s that she does.

Cannot stand a pushover heroine
Love K Ashley - as a matter of fact I have bought the next two books in these series with Knight. But I am not impressed by this first book as I can't seem to like Anya. She gave in to everything (well almost-I'll give her that) the hero wanted or willing to give. When it came to decisions, this couple had a 90/10 split with Knight having 90% say. Anya convinces herself she's fine and happy with the outcome. I guess all heroines cannot be the same but I was looking for some push back from Anya but never got it. I'm not convinced I should keep this book. First out of over 15 K Ashley books I own that I'm thinking of returning.
Savannah Richards as always delivered a great performance. The writing is good, the Kristen Ashley style is stamped all over the characters (except Anya) and dialogues. It's a 3.5 rating for me, whereas I always give her a 5 in the past.
