Summary
Indy Savage is a former wild child (okay, maybe not so "former") and current used-bookstore owner. Lee Nightingale is a former bad boy and now runs a private investigation service. Toss together a quiet barista with a not-so-lawful side-business, a crazy Vietnam Vet, a pothead, a drag queen, family and friends who will not mind their own business, a few stun guns, and a bag of diamonds, and mix them all up with some shootings, a high-speed chase and car bombs exploding, then hang on for your first wild Rock Chick ride.

Great Series!!! Brings laughter and tears!
A great Series! I started by reading the series in book format. After reading the whole series a number of times (yes its that good!!) I ordered these to listen to in the car on long journeys.
I found the narrator really good and believable, and i appreciated aspects of the story, that i had obviously missed by reading it.
I hope that audible bring out the other series's of Kristen Ashley, as the books are naturally funny and Susannah Jones reads them so well, that i find myself smiling and laughing in the car.

A fun romance with some bad ideas
This is a fun romance set in Denver with a laughably implausible stock of ridiculously hot men for the heroine and her friends. Though it's mostly sexy and fun there are some disturbing themes of coercive control with the 'hero' trying to control what the heroine wears, her "flirting" and where she goes. These are red flag behaviors that really need to stop being presented as sexy or romantic. Run girl. The narrator does a good job of bringing the story to life.

Lee and India
Any additional comments?
I loved this book and the story. Everything about it was amazing but parts I was disappointed about firstly Lee could be a total dick at times and be very hard to like even with his smouldering sexy badass I'm macho and in change attitude.
My other complaint and the reason for 4stars is Lee's and Idie final get together after you've been tease within an inch of your sanity. It was left lot up to reader to image a sexy dirty things Lee had been promising to do to idie. Other than that I'm totally in love with this series and I'm only first book in. Can't wait for more.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for a love story, and a hot man!
This book has both!
India has been in love with Lee since she was 5 years old, she tried to get him many times and he always turned her down, now he wants her.
Lee is a badass, he owns a security company and helps hunt people down, above and below what is strictly legal!
Oh yeah, then there is the missing diamonds, bar brawls, coffee making, hilarious characters and hot sex!
What more do you want in a book.
A funny, steamy 5☆

Very Stephanie Plum
If you're a fan of Janet Evanovitch's Stephanie Plum books then this will possibly be a book you'll enjoy. It's not quite as funny, well written or finessed but I listened to it all the way through and enjoyed it. It's very similar type of storyline is easy to listen to and not too taxing.

Rock Chicks are AMAZING and I am Addicted!
Kristina Ashley is a contemporary Romance writer who combines these the passion with the thrill and danger of an action movie! Whilst following these epic journeys of self-discoveries and unions between characters these transcendent stories are intertwined with high moments of hilarious and inescapable situations. The humour in these moments is almost addictive. (Most typically shown Rock Chick Series).
The majority of Ashley's books feature alpha males coupled with sassy young women with attitude and friendship in abundance. However, Ashley writes like a machine having more than 10 book series the majority she is still contributing to. But where to begin? The Rock Chick series, is probably the most logical begin as it overarches all the other series - it's almost as if Ashley has created a whole new world, because as you work your way through her books you hear of all the other characters along the way and how their lives progress. Each series seems to take a new perception into relationships and the dynamics between people.
In the first book, you get introduced to the majority of the men working in Lee's Security firm all of who are extremely hot in their own way. Along the way Indy introduces us to a number of crazy characters my favourite being Tex as she struggles to stay safe and avoid being kidnapped the serious undertones are met with moment of extreme hilarity...have fun reading! I just want to read the whole Rock chick series again!

Dreadful - couldn't finish it
I gave this book to about the 7 hour mark before finally bailing on it. It is quite simply dreadful. I was constantly cringing throughout the book. First off I will say the narrator did a good job with material she had to work with, I would listen to her again with another author. I found the book to be ridiculous. I was expecting a light listen but this was just stupid. The lead character Indy is a complete dingbat. The books storyline is outdated and sexist. It was uncomfortable to listen to some of it, particularly the parts where she clearly states No to sex and intimacy and the male lead, Lee, ignores her, basically tells her it doesn't matter her wishes, she really means yes. Ugh, really, feels so date rapey. How about giving us a character with a brain, who is able to advocate for herself sexually (I mean come on the premise she has wanted him for years and finally has her chance), a male who isn't a sexist asshole, and someone who actually is affected by the kidnapping and murders instead of wondering if her lipstick is still good and her underwear is pretty enough. All the surrounding characters are boring and stereotypical. Can't believe I wasted 7 hours on this book.

A Rockin story
Any additional comments?
Indy Savage is the daughter of a cop, a bookstore owner, and a wild child. She's loved Lee Nightingale since she was five years old. Once she was old enough, she would practically throw herself at him, only to be rejected. After feeling humiliated by the last rejection, she made sure to avoid him for good and move on. Now she's in trouble because of her coffee 'artiste' Rosie who apparently has some diamonds these men want. He has dealt pot to the wrong people and now they seem to be after him, which in turn means her too. How do they know? They get shot at. The only one who can help them is the one she wants to keep at arms lengths, Lee.
Lee Nightingale is well... who the hell knows. But he is an alpha bad-ass and has a command center, nuff said... Lee has wanted Indy for quite some time. He was waiting for his moment where they would both be more stable and not crazy hormone ridden teens. Unfortunately Indy has been avoiding him for a decade. Now, he has a chance with her and he isn't giving it up. He will do anything to protect her *sigh*, and anything to have her. I will admit, I was not impressed by him in the beginning. He came off as a total A-hole and he could be too blunt. But as I kept listening, he grew on me. Plus, he was really sexy and delicious, so it wasn't hard.
This book had some action, some quite hilarious moments, Cool Action, a bit of steam (nothing too crazy hot and that disappointed me a bid), and of course some sexy alpha bad-ass men. I was so frustrated, these two, were interrupted SO many times throughout the book while they were 'trying' to get it on. I felt their pain... All of the characters were a bunch of oddballs but together they were all perfect and the banter was just awesome. There were a few moments however, that I felt the story dragged on a bit, which had me wondering in my mind but then the story would redeem it's self once again.
All in all it was a Ok listen but i'm not sure that i will continue with the series.

Ugh, a fail for me.
DNF at 50% (7 hours of listening). I give 1 star for the book plus an additional star for the narration, which was actually pretty good.
If you are a hard-core, die-hard Kristen Ashley fan, look the other way! Shield your eyes from this review because, I promise you, it will only make you mad!
I honestly don't get the appeal of KA. This is my 4th book from her and they ALL feel the SAME! The SAME! Those staccato sentences, the way the heroines are always wrong and figure out that the man was right all along, the helpless females... I actually think that her books have turned me off from "alpha males" for a long time.
Aside from the recycled plot, my biggest issue with this was Indy. I haven't met a heroine that personified "Too Stupid To Live" so perfectly in... maybe ever. How many times can a person get kidnapped? How many times can someone run into danger all for some coffee-weilding acquaintance? How many times can someone try to "leave the cops out of it" because she wants to handle it on her own? I just can't any more...
I wasn't even interested enough to see how Indy and Lee got on as a couple. And I can't stand how KA leaves in so many mundane details. This book was hours/100 pages too long. Just endless boring scenes...
I'm going to have to wait a couple of years before attempting another book by this author. I risk dismemberment by her fans and disownment from my friends who love her work every time I try to read another one of her stories.
Sorry, guys.

I love K.A. Books!
So... I started my K.A. fix with "Own the Wind"... after discovering the Kane Tack Allen, then Shy Cage... and Tabby... I continued with the entire Dream Man Series... (which was awesome by the way).
I learned about Nightingale and his crew of bad-asses from the Dream Man Series...so to finally see where it all started.. O yeah... I scooped this up day one!
I have to say.. compared to the Dream Man series... this series seems a bit more tame... Not as much smexy bits... and a strong angsty romance undertone...after all the drama....
Still.. this book totally Rocked! I loved every single morsel! I cannot wait till all of the Rock Chicks are on Audible!!! So excited... Instant Download!
Narration was good.... I think I like the Narrator for Dream Man better...but you know what... It was still decent...
Great Buy, Credit or Sale... (I would credit this ...as it is pretty pricey)

If you love Stephanie Plum then this is for you!!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this book to my friends. Fun but romantic book with some suspense too.
What did you like best about this story?
This book had a perfect balance of romance, humor and suspense. Reminded me a lot of the Stephanie Plum series. Story line had an engaging plot and didn't end in a cliff hanger!!! It was HEA just the way I like it. Of course you were introduced to the characters in the next Rock Chick book and I can't wait to read that one too.
What does Susannah Jones bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Susannah did a wonderful job! I would listen to her again and again.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Loved the adventures and craziness Indy got herself into. Lee was a hot alpha male, so that didn't hurt either. Insert swoon here.

good idea for story BUT main character is immature
What did you love best about Rock Chick?
story line, in general;
Would you recommend Rock Chick to your friends? Why or why not?
no- the main character, India, behaves like a 13 year old in her relationships- immature to the point of annoyance
What about Susannah Jones’s performance did you like?
good representation
Any additional comments?
will not listen to remainder of series

Uh ... No. A herione who says 'Oopsie!? Really?
I'm going to return this book as it has made my teeth hurt from grinding them as I listen to this book. The 'star' of the book is too damn cute. She knows it, brags about it.. a very narcissistic personality. In a cute little girly voice she says 'Oopsie' a LOT. Then there are the 'Yikes' when she's caught, or the 'Uh-oh'. All in that ... 'What, you're mad a little ol' ME?' little girl voice. Ugh.
Supposedly she owns a bookstore which she inherited from her grandmother, but rarely does she show up at work. Employees are hired with no set schedule (apparently it 'works'), there is no one worrying about bookkeeping, bank deposits, etc.. it's just there to show she can support herself, and why she's chasing after an errant employee who has become involved with stolen diamonds.
Then there is Lee, who she has lusted after for her entire life. OF COURSE, he - the big bad hottest dude EVAH! is madly in love with her and just HAPPENS to be involved with finding the diamonds. After he cuffs her to the bed for hours and hours while he investigates. Can we say 'bathroom break' here?
This story is too fluffy and little girlish for me. I'm trying to hang in there till the end to see if the story finale is worth the pain and punishment of listening to this audiobook.
The sad part is that the narrator has done a good job really. It's just the VOICE .. 'Oopsie'. WHAT?
I honestly think I would have done better struggling through reading this book than listening to the narration. It made an already irritating too-girly character supremely annoying.

Painful
Main characters are not likeable. Indy is not smart and not "cute" as she is so often described in the book. She's irresponsible and immature and uninteresting and none of the details about her character made her a "rock chick" except that she keeps describing herself that way. Lee, the love interest, is jealous and controlling and their relationship is really unhealthy and wasn't fun to read about. He kept bossing her around and she kept giving in and they kept having the same conversations over, and over, and over again. It was painful. I also didn't like the reading, but I'm not sure I can blame the narration since there wasn't much that could be done with the inane and repetitive dialogue.

Save your money
This has to be the dumbest heroine in any book. She gets kidnapped three times in two weeks. Really! Her boyfriend is a bully and control freak who never accepts "no" for an answer. Liberal use of the "F" word throughout the book--males and females. I listened to the entire book because I couldn't believe how poorly written it was. Then I found out that this is the first in a series. Publishers--you need higher standards.

Stupid Chick
I thought with all the positive reviews this would be at least a fun read. I wanted to toss my iPhone out the window. Can I just say that Lee and Indy deserve each other. The story is a recycled romance. There were the typical cookie cutter secondary characters, the flaming gay, grease ball mob guy, and the crazy vet. The only thing original was how annoying the heroine was throughout the entire story.
I'll take a pass on the rest of the books in the series.
