About this listen

If we do what is right, everything else will follow: happiness, success, meaning, reputation, love. This is central to Stoic wisdom. The path isn't always easy, but it is essential, and the alternative - taking the easy route - leads only to cowardice and folly.

In the third book in his bestselling Stoic Virtues series, Ryan Holiday explores the crucial role that integrity plays in every good life. From pillars of upright living like Ulysses S. Grant and Marcus Aurelius, to the cautionary tales of Napoleon and F. Scott Fitzgerald, this book shows us the power of owning our convictions and acting in accordance with our beliefs - and the perils of an ill-formed conscience.

Our conscience, our sense of justice, is our first and our last strength: we can train it, hone it and fortify it, but above all, we must never lose it. This book shows us how.

Quality listening

Nothing to dislike about this man and his writing. This is my 6th book of Ryan's all have been lovely to listen to (or read). His books have certainly helped my outlook on life and without him I would know nothing about the stoicism. Thanks again, I look forward to your next book.

Humbling

Another wonderfully written piece by Ryan Holiday. I have listen to many of his works on repeat when needed and this piece comes at a fortunate time.

Humanitarian blueprint

Makes you realise how difficult it is to be a good, honest person in this day & age, but it also gives direction & hope for achieving this goal. A fantastic humbling experience. A shopping list for all things good

Stoicism used to support personal convictions

I am big fan of Ryan and a student of Stoic Philosofy. I can recommend al of his books on this subject, exept this one. From beginning to end he is judging people and groups of people, mainly about their connection to slavery and rascism. Times change, you cant judge a person about what you think he thought about these subjects in an time where you think you have knowledge about. If he would have had one chapter or storyline about the subject that would be fine, but he keeps going on about it. In the end he even starts judging people about taking 'vaccins'.. I am very dissapoited in this workof his, he has much more potential then this. This book also seems to be writen to be in accordance with the polical and culteral hype of today, instead of the timeless value of the stoic virtue Justice

Repetitive

I have loved all of Ryan Holiday's books on the stoic theme until now. This one is very repetitive and were it not for the slave trade / black white issues there wouldn't be much else. Thought there would be so much more.
