Tanner Malone is starting to enjoy his navy post in the honor guard. After surviving violent conflicts with space pirates in the void, he hopes to stay out of the stars for a while. just awesome book. love the characters and story, the combat is thrilling and not too long, and the main character is realistic. A good sequel too the first book and leaves you hungry for more.

For military sci-fi fans this is a must read. The performance is fantastic and has wide range and energy, the story is gripping with likable characters. when Tanner switches on, I have to listen until he's finished.

Second book in this series - both this and the first "Poor Man's fight" are really good military sci-fi/ space opera. Action packed with many political elements and great character development. The narrator is really good which enhances the experience for the listener - not always the case! Tanner Malone is a lead character to rival Honor Harrington in the "Can't miss the next one" stakes. I will soon be listening to the third book in the series!
