Summary

Parker, a black leopard shifter living in a remote part of Oregon, saves the life of a woman and her child after they are in a car accident on an isolated road near his property. Discovering Addison is on the run from an abusive relationship, one very pissed-off leopard is determined to do everything he can to keep her and her baby, London, safe.

His animal insists Addison is his true mate, but Parker has lost one mate and doesn't believe there will be another for him in this lifetime. He doesn't believe he deserves one. Will Parker learn to love again? Is he truly destined to have another mate or will his developing feelings for the woman leave him heartbroken and alone once again?

Engaging story with a sting in the tail/tale

I'm not a fan of stories told in the present tense, but I'm glad I stuck with this one. As a shifter story, it ticks some of the usual boxes, and adds a couple of brand new ones! The drama at the end took me totally by surprise.
Had I been a beta-reader, I'd have suggested changing the narrative timeline a bit to give the characters time to show us their relationship developing and trust being earned, but it's an entertaining tale as it is - romance, some steam, and drama.

Great shifter book

This is a really enjoyable shifter book. There is lots of action and a few twists and turns as well. Good characters with chemistry. Dillon gives a great performance.

A healthy relationship will never require you

to sacrifice your friends, your dreams, or your dignity. ~Mandy Hale~
The story was really good. It starts off with Parker finding Addison & London while she was on the run from an abusive ex. From that point you get caught up in the plot and there isn't a dull moment throughout. I did feel like it was a little rushed, but it didn't take away from the book. I just wish there was a bit more of a build up with the relationship considering that when someone goes through what Addison did they need time since there are bound to be triggers. She trusted Parker pretty quick but that's what's fun about a shifter romance, you can speed things when they are figuring out if they are fated mates. I also really loved the twist at the end when Addison comes face to face with he ex. It was unexpected and a great twist.
Dillon did a good job with the narration. There was a few times that I felt like there was an echo and it jolted me from the story but maybe that wasn't something that could be fixed. Dillon has a very raw, sexy voice and I felt like it fit his Parkers character perfectly.
