Summary
Someone has to be responsible.
Micky O’Neill and Dan Peters now live in Wales, bringing up Micky’s disabled little brother away from small-minded Heathwood and close to Micky’s deceased mother’s family.
Things are fine...until Dan begins his dream career as an English teacher at the local school and Micky, main caregiver to Flynn, is isolated in a village that only serves to remind him of his mother’s absence.
With Flynn’s health deteriorating and his needs becoming more complex, everything is tested to its limits, and Dan seeks solace in a friendship with a fellow teacher, sending Micky into further turmoil.
After an accusation is leveled against Micky and it seems he’s slipping back into his old ways, he and Dan are torn. To repair the rift, both have to accept responsibility - for life.

Great finish to a brilliant series
Wow, what a great series. I listened to Reformed in just two days. Once I started, I was totally captivated by the story. Since it is the third volume in a series, I recommend listening to the previous two volumes beforehand as the series builds on each other.
The author's writing style is engaging and she has a talent for creating deep characters that then develop over a series of 3 books.
There is the temperamental Mickey with his criminal past and big heart. He had hopes of having a new start by moving to Wales. But he is struggling with his fate. The job search proves to be more difficult than expected, his brother Flynn has health problems and then there are also the everyday problems. Turning to alcohol is not a good solution. I loved Mickey from the first volume despite or maybe because of his past. He had a difficult youth, but people change. All I can say is: poor Mickey!
Flynn is an absolute sunshine who I also took to my heart very quickly and who you can never be mad at, no matter what he does.
Dan, Mickey's friend, also has to come to terms with his new life in Wales. He doesn't know what to do about Mickey's drinking and always unerringly chooses the wrong path. The relationship between the two threatens to break up. There are many, many difficulties in the path of the three and there are several twists and turns before Mickey, Dan and Flynn get their deserved happy ending.
The Responsible Adult series has become my absolute favorite series by the author. On the one hand, because the protagonists and the actions are taken as if from real life, and on the other hand, because you experience the complete range of emotions while listening: joy, frustration, sadness, anger, disappointment, hope. In addition, the story was told very emotionally. Chapeau, well done! A sometimes very dark series, at the end of which is a bright glow.
I received a copy of the audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Pierce Ryman is a great narrator. He brought the characters to life, you could hear the emotions very well and he always hit the right note. The book itself is good, but Pierce Ryman makes it even better with his amazing interpretation. He is the perfect choice for this emotional story! I already wrote this text about the narrator for volume 1, but I can repeat it again for the complete series: Pierce Ryman did a brilliant job and I think he is the perfect actor for the Responsible Adult series.
Absolute recommendation! This series is well worth another listen!

goes beyond the HEA
I wasn't sure going into this story as I felt book 2 was a good "stopping point" but I enjoyed the "what happens after" aspects of this one. Life and love are hard and I liked that this series and especially this final story was honest, raw and heartwrenching at times but showed that even tho Micky and Dan are in love and starting a new life doesn't not mean that it's all easy and rosey. This story was started off a bit depressing and challenging but it really shown the honest growth, depth and heart of Micky and ended on such a wonderful note it was all worth it to see their growth, love and healing at the end.
I think this series will stick with me for quite a while. powerful, raw and real, it's honest, at times harsh but lifts you up as these men change and grow. I really enjoyed it and Flynn will forever be in my heart!!!!

Ohh, how I cried
Another instalment into the lives of Micky, Dan and Flynn, and wow, did I cry a lot. Seriously this whole series has had been laughing, smiling and crying.
The characters are so true-life it's as if you are reading about people you know or your neighbours. The characters are well written, and even though the MC has a temper and a criminal past, you have to love him. Micky has a younger brother Flynn who has special needs, a beautiful, exceptionally well-written character who tugs at your heartstrings right the way through the book. This section was written for book 1, but I decided to keep it.
In this book, the boys have made it to Wales to restart their lives, but Micky gets himself into trouble again, his quick temper getting the better of him, Dan can't handle it this time, and you can see the relationship crumbling. This is where the tears started, but believe me; they didn't end here. The book and series are so well written that I was in tears every few pages at one point.
I love how the author develops the characters, their pasts not defining who they are but aiding them to better themselves or not. The story develops well, and I have to say I loved every part, even the details that brought tears to me. I still couldn't put it down. If anyone deserves a HEA, it's these three.
The story is tough love, sweet, establishment hating, disabled children loving each other, abuse from parents, suicide. I am completely smitten with these characters. Even though the series has ended, I will always have these books and audios to reread/listen to forevermore.
This has to be my favourite series of books so far, and I don't just mean from this author. They have hit me right where I needed it. Love, hurt, tears, love. I could just go on repeating this.
The narration by Piers Ryman was impeccable, clean, easy to listen to and did a great job of distinguishing between the characters. An absolute joy to listen to. As usual I sped up Bookfunnel and Audible to 1.50x.

Great finish to a great series
Story: It’s not easy to focus 3 books on the same couple without making it drawn out. In the case of this series it’s the farthest thing from the truth! Dań and Micky are great characters with complex personalities, relatable yet able to surprise a reader multiple times. The story and issues it addresses are painfully relatable and so well approached! I enjoyed the whole series immensely and this last part was an icing on the cake!
Narration: yet another amazing performance by Piers Ryman. Perfection!

Great final to the series.
The author did a great job in writing this amazing series. All the main characters are so well written. I just love Flynn, he is so true. Micky has not had an easy life as and has not made the best choices Dan has a big heart and wants to care and find his true calling in his life. The storyline is so believable, even after all the changes it is not just sunshine and roses. The men are who they are and need to work on themselves and their relationship. I highly recommend this book and the others in the series. The audiobooks for this series are excellently narrated by Piers Ryman and are also recommended. His narration gives the book that extra layer.
