Summary

Your first kiss is supposed to be sweet. Ours was baptized in fire. I was the new girl trying to find her place.

Landon was the brooding neighbor I tutored over the summer. I didn’t know he was a legend at Black Mountain Academy. I didn’t know they worshipped him like a religion.

But, I fell for him before I knew those things. To me, he was just the tortured soul who drew me in like a magnet. And then, he did something so unspeakable, so unforgivable, it shattered me. I ran away then because I was weak, but I’ve shed my tears.

He stole my heart and my dignity, and I’m here to take it back. The only problem is…he’s not giving it up without a fight.

Pretty When She Cries is a stand-alone enemies-to-lovers high school romance. Expect dark themes, angst, off-the-charts chemistry, and twisty goodness.

it still gets to me.

This book. Even when ilistened to this, the same feelings came to minde as when i read with my eyes. I thought I was to old to read high school romance. I thought I wanted more "grownup" books. Oh boy was I wrong. I swallowed up every single Word in this book. And yes. Its because its One of my favorit authers writing this book. Zavarelli is just One of the best. The way She twists this sick dark univers, where everything looks so Perfect at first glance. But under the surface, its a sick rotten world where everybody have dirt on eachother. Powerplay, jealousi, hate, revenge, sex and love pulses through it like a snake.
It made me want more from this world. I am so not done with this book.
The narrators were new to me. but they didnt dissapoint at all. they made this book come to life. and made the words flow even better.

Even better on audio

A bully romance written by one of my favourite authors you say? Twists, turns, drama, angst aplenty you say? Feels on top of all of that you say? You betcha. I'm honestly not surprised that I loved this book, since I've read nearly everything this author has put out and loved almost all of it. But this one might be my favourite. Kali and Landon have a past and then something awful happens. Two years later to get revenge. Needless to say this had me hooked from the jump and I LOVED THIS. I volunteered to listen to a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.

Not super awesome

This book started out pretty decent but the further into the story it went the more childish it seemed. The portrayal of the "bad guy" characters were so over exaggerated it was ridiculous. I tried to really get in touch with the main characters, but it really only seemed superficial to me.

It was okay but I don't think I'll be reading any more of the series.

Omg!

Wow, definitely recommend! There were so many twist and turns I did not see coming! I wouldn’t put this under dark romance but the components are there along with all different feels along the way! Glad I came across this book and this author! The narrators were absolutely amazing as well!

A. Zavarelli never fails me!

Zavarelli wrote such an angsty ya/na read. I floved it! Stefanie Kay and Neill Thorne has taken this romantic suspense and elevated it with their performance. The twists and turns were spectacular and I couldn't turn this one off! The push and pull is captivating! This is such a great audiobook.

❤️🔥❤️

New narrators for me. LOVED THIS! 🔥🔥 HS bully romance with stalkery tendencies on both sides. Plenty of scandals, cringey moments...a horrible mother worth hating, and a sick bully.
Warning for attempted suicide and attempted rape.

Fantastic story

I absolutely loved this book when I read it when it came out, and listening to it was like visiting an old friend. The narrators did a phenomenal job, and they really brought these characters to life.

I loved Kael and Landon, and the push and pull between them. The plot was my favorite kind, with so many twists and turns I was constantly kept guessing about what was going to happen next. And that big scene at the end? I mean, I read it twice previously, and it still took my breath away to hear it coming out of the narrator’s mouth. Wow. Just WOW! I love this book so much!

Fantastic!!

Pretty When She Cries is book one in the Black Mountain Academy series by A. Zavarelli. I absolutely love everything that A. Zavarelli has written and once again, she did not disappoint. This book is set in high school; however, it doesn’t read like your typical high school romance. There is so much complexity going on with the characters. Landon is a tortured megastar, who feels alone and unloved even in a crowded room, knowing everyone around him is just looking for what he can give. The “normal” high school experience he was looking for at Black Mountain Academy is anything but that. Then Kailani comes into his life and turns it upside down. Kailani is the opposite of everyone who has been in his life. Kailani isn’t like the other girls at Black Mountain Academy and finds her life turned upside down and spiraling out of control. Their relationship is a fierce love hate relationship that becomes twisted due to the hate, jealousy and meanness that surrounds them. You will be on the edge of your seat trying to discover the truth. The way this story unfolds will keep you glued to the book waiting to see if everyone gets what they truly deserve.

I loved this book when I read it, but listening to it brought it to a whole new level. Stefanie Kay and Neill Thorne brought Kailani and Landon to life.
