Invaluable advice to parents of teens

I am always looking for ways to improve my parenting skills and as the mother of a teenage girl, I was attracted to this book.

The chapter on striking up a conversation is particularly useful. The book made me realize how I have been going wrong with my timing and ultimately why I have not been successful in imparting key advice to my daughter. The case studies that the author uses in the book added clarity to the material and made the subject come alive.

Chapter 8 – Money Matters - is one of the shortest chapters in the audiobook but is one of the most impactful. The concept of paying my child to carry out chores never crossed my mind and I implemented this immediately. The book provides wonderful advice to parents to help their children develop essential life skills. Highly recommended.

Great guide if you're getting worried

The teenage years are such tricky years for parents as well as teenagers themselves. This audiobook is a great guide to dealing with some of the more typical situations that can become a big challenge to the parent - teen relationship. It has practical and useful advice while at the same time being compassionate and understanding to how hard things can be. I would definitely recommend.

Very important for todays parents

This audiobook addresses some very interesting challenges faced by most parents with teenagers. There is a huge generation gap but how do you raise your child without assuming or think the way you were brought up is the best parenting style.

I like the broad scope of difficult conversations and strategies reviewed in the book which are of brushed to the side but yet very relevant such as social media impact, money, dating, drinking and lots more. It is a very pragmatic and relevant piece which parents with teens would greatly benefit from.

Great Lessons!

Parenting teens can be one of the hardest thing to do as a parent. Things sometimes can be very difficult when you don’t understand your child and don’t understand what they’re trying to accomplish. A lot of times they just want to fit in with other kids at school and with what society requires of them. Being patient and focusing on listening, caring for them, and supporting them are some of the most important things that you need to do. This book goes over so many important topics that we need to remember as parents. I highly suggest this book to anyone that’s a parent and is having trouble with their teen or to improve their relationship with their kids.

Very Informative

At times, living with a teenager can feel like sleeping with the enemy. They are trying to navigate between becoming adults and wanting to remain as little children. Clara Cox gives excellent ideas for parents and teens to learn to communicate and navigate the waters to adulthood. Well done!

A LOT OF USEFUL INFORMATION

A fantastic resource for parents of teenagers is "Parenting Teens: Step-by-Step Guide to Bond,...
Clara Cox emphasizes a few aspects that other authors overlook, making this book stand out among other publications of a similar nature. 1. Because every teen is unique, you can't just apply a one-size-fits-all strategy. Cox does a good job of describing how one sister can be more quiet while another might be more inclined to discuss personal matters. 2. I truly value how Cox devoted a significant portion of the book on kindness and providing for others. She gives an example of how assisting someone in need can have long-lasting benefits for the teen.
I give it five stars! I urge all parents, grandparents, and caregivers to read Parenting Teens: Step-by-Step Guide to Bond.

Love the conversation starters

Some times I try to start up a conversation, but I just get quick one word responses like "yes" or "no" and the conversation falls flat. But I really like that in this book there were some good conversation starters that require more than just a one word answer and actually get conversation started. At this point, I don't really care that much what the conversation is about. As long as there IS a conversation. I feel like anything that can get us talking with each other will help create a bond between us where trust can develop.
