Summary

After a disaster of a first heat, I’m ready to swear off alphas and escape to a cabin in the woods.

My body has other plans.

Now that I’m awakened, I can’t survive another heat alone.

Problem is, I hate alphas, hate packs, and really super hate the so-called mates I can’t forgive and can’t forget.

Now my biological clock’s ticking too fast to handle, and I can’t wait on Wyvern Pack to figure out their damage.

I’ll take care of my own needs.

And if you can’t give me what I want, then get out of my way.

Because this omega bites back.

This book contains frequent cursing, references to assault that may be disturbing, and a few alphaholes who need to grovel for redemption. It's a medium-burn romance with high heat that includes MM and MMFMMM scenes.

Lots of ups and downs

Narration was very good, especially by the male narrator, he captured the different personalities of the characters amazingly. I found I loved seeing the heroine through their eyes but didn't care much for the female point of view. The way she was narrated also didn't endear me to Lila. She's a bit of a nasal, arrogant whiny character. Every chapter I was kind of hoping to have the male perspective and found myself increasingly disappointed when it was another Lila chapter. I found that the story had some major plot holes, and the world building is a bit shaky. There's also quite some deux ex machina and unnecessarily convoluted twists. For example, at some point a piece of tech is conveniently present at a crisis moment only for it to fail at the moment supreme and be replaced by a very convenient yet unexplained biological supernatural feature. These kind of things kept me from being completely immersed in the story. But maybe that's because I'm new the this genre.

The end of the book was a whiplash moment, you arrive at a sort of epilogue moment only for there to be a very obvious spinoff bait insert after which there's another 180° turn and we sail into the sunset. For me this last chapter perfectly captures the incongruous behaviour of the heroine throughout the two books.

In short, the story had its amazing moments and some unenjoyable ones, but the narration is what kept me coming back.

I'm left with the feeling that Wyvern pack should have ended up with someone better.

Perfect

Just like with Part 1, this was perfection! I loved the storyline, the narration, all of it. Troy and Kelsey knocked it out of the park yet again!

Strong female lead character!

I love this 2 book series. Features a strong female lead that repeatedly saves herself, sometimes even making her men be the damsels in distress. Author did a great job with the strong yet vulnerable FML. All the feels! Also did a great job making the MLs earn her trust back-no easy cop outs due to “fated mates” like a lot of other rejected mate stories out there. It was really really well done!
Amazing narrators made the story come alive!

Need more!!!

I hope there is going to be a book 3. There’s not really a cliffhanger but there is a definite opening for a book 3. What a great series! The story itself is fun and emotional and has great twists and of course so much steam! Narration is AMAZING!! Troy and Kelsey do such an great job connecting these characters. Troy is a master at voicing multiple male characters in a single scene so you forget it’s really just one person doing it. Highly recommend this series especially if you want to explore Omegaverse

Liked the story but...

The story was good, I just wish the pack came together quicker. The last hour of two books is not enough Alpha/omega time for me personally. But the actual plot was good.

Pack Darling Part Two by Lola Rock

Tropes/Themes:
-MMFMMM why choose romance
-Omegaverse
-Hate to love
-Fated mates
-Slow burn
-Surprisingly low steam (but does include MM, MF, and MMFMMM scenes)
-Multi POV
-Book #2 in a duet (HEA guaranteed)

CWs for physical assault, sexual assault/abuse (in conversation), kidnapping, and trauma

Tropes and content warnings apply to duet as a whole.

Not gonna lie, I found this duet a little lacking but I can’t pinpoint exactly why. It didn’t do anything wrong, it just felt a little bland at times. The pacing was a little off throughout the duet. I found myself comparing it a lot to Kathryn Moon’s omegaverse books while I was reading it, which probably detracted from my enjoyment because those are some of my favorite omegaverse books of all time.

I was glad that we got a ton of groveling from the heroes in book #2 though. They really had to put in the work to earn the heroine’s trust back after the stunt they pulled at the end of book #1.

Story: 3/5

Minority Opinion

I am annoyed by all the characters, the female lead is getting on my nerves. Orion turned his back on Atlas to easily even though they had a strong relationship. I am having a hard time listening to this book. I keep putting it down, only picking it back up because I hate not finishing a book. The Alphas lives are torn apart and it wasn't enough. I am assuming things get better I hope, I am currently on chapter 19, so a long way to go.

Great continuation and ending

This 2 book series was a fantastic listen! It had it all…drama, romance, horror, violence, action & comedy. My favorite omegaverse audible book yet. Perfect choice for the narrators, great writing, and lengthy enough that I feel that I definitely got my credit’s worth!!

What the what?!?

I loved this book. Enjoyed just about all of it. Then we get to the very end of the book and it’s the whole— 2 months later— and blah blah—cliffhanger… what the heck??

Great WC Series

The slow burn finally came to its climax! I thoroughly enjoyed this duet. The narrators are great and never disappoint. I do feel like the finale was a bit rushed. The Orion and Lyla scene was everything I’d hoped for, while the final consummation with the rest of the pack was a slight disappointment for me. I wished that we had had a more individualized one on one first time with each of the remaining pack characters (barring Orion)instead of the first time being a borderline rushed group activity. Other than that, I have no complaints!
