With a relationship that makes me happy and a job I love, life is good. But when the man I've just agreed to marry has his estranged wife and four-year-old daughter turn up on his doorstep, I'm not the only one reevaluating things. Story
Callum Griffin is the heir to the Irish mafia. He’s ruthless, arrogant, and he wants to kill me. We got off on the wrong foot when I set a (very small) fire in his house. Our families believe a marriage pact is the only thing that will prevent all-out warfare. I think I might need to murder him while he sleeps. This would all be a lot easier if Callum wasn’t so damned good-looking.

No one would say that our story is pretty. But we were in love before we hated each other. And we were friends long before that. Growing up, I saw Jace Zielinski every day. He lived next door. I cheered him on at football games. I gave him advice on girls. He was my brother’s best friend, and the three of us were inseparable. I didn’t realize I’d already fallen for Jace until we kissed for the first time. Our magical season felt like destiny. And then came the disaster that tore us all to shreds. I lost Jace. I lost my brother. In many ways I lost myself.

Clam jam. Definition: the female equivalent of a cock block. Example: You're chatting with a guy you're interested in, and your friend comes along and lays claim to him. That's my life - except it's worse. My friend who keeps "jamming" me is my gay roommate. Fact: He went home with three - yes, three - of the guys I had been so sure were into me. Fact: He's really pissing me off. I'll never manage to get a boyfriend before the age of 50 if he keeps this up. Fact: Secretly, I wonder what it would be like if he weren't gay.

It all starts as pretend. To everyone else, Hunter is the most powerful man in New York. Respected by his associates and feared by his competitors. But to me? He's just my best friend. my sexy-as-hell best friend. It was easy to agree to help him fake a romance. After all, who knows him like I do? Convincing his tight-knit family takes a little more: An unexpected kiss that makes my skin sizzle, my knees go weak. Before I know it, our banter turns to flirting and Hunter's hell-bent on charming me. On our first night together, we barely keep our hands off each other.

It’s natural to want the one you can’t have. And for as long as I could remember, I’d secretly wanted my brother’s best friend, Jace. He was six years older and always treated me like the sister he never had. Fast forward a decade. We were all in our 20s now. Jace had moved in with my brother, Nathan, and me to help us make ends meet after our parents died. It was just the three of us - an odd family dynamic. Living under our roof, Jace was as bossy and protective as ever. But he certainly didn’t look at me like a sister anymore. That was what made things so complicated.

Story
They say it happens when you least expect it. It did for me. It started the moment I saw the simple message pop up on my computer screen: Cameron’s Mac: Hi. And when I met the eyes of the gorgeous man messaging me from across the coffee shop, I never thought my reply would lead to the most intense, sexual, and passionate relationship of my life. We both agreed to check our bags at the door and put our future hopes and aspirations on the table. It worked. I fell in love with his no-holds-barred attitude, sexy smirk, and undeniably good heart...and for a while we forgot about our baggage.
Summary
Boy meets girl, boy wins girl, boy nails girl - boy's gone by morning.
I think for sure it must've been a dream because there's no way a guy could look like that, touch me like that, and be so in tune with me on every known level and disappear, leaving me with nothing but a good story to tell my friends.
When he walks into my bar three months later, everything I thought I knew and what we'd had disappears in the blink of an eye and the blinding light of the three-carat diamond on his fiancee's hand.
It seems what I thought was a dream is now my most complicated reality, and I've got absolutely no idea how to fix it - or if I even want to.

Not my favorite BJ Harvey *SPOILERS*
I am not a fan of infidelity, even for sham relationships. I was really liking Kenzie's character in the beginning: Her honesty, integrity, etc. I liked the first part of the book, the beginning of Kenzie and Millen's relationship.
What I didn't like was Millen's ghosting, coming back 3 months later and trying to claim Kenzie, and her letting him. If you are as anti-infidelity as you say you are, you don't just accept that the guy is in a loveless relationship and sleep with him while he is still engaged to someone else. Not cool.
My biggest problem with this audio book? The fact that it says it's narrated by Stella Bloom and Joe Arden. There are 24 chapters and an epilogue in this book. Guess how many chapters Joe Arden narrates: NONE! He has a 2 minute 40 second epilogue and that's it.
I am totally okay with single-person narration, especially since the story is only told from one POV. I feel like I got a little tricked here. I think it should say "Guest appearance" or "Featuring" rather than listing Joe Arden as a narrator.
I have been primarily reading and listening to dual POV books lately, as I find I enjoy the author's vision of the male perspective sometimes more than the females. When you see two narrators listed on a book, the reasonable assumption is that it will be a dual POV story. I just think they should reconsider the way the narration is presented to potential buyers. Throw a little blurb in the description that the male narrative is minor. That's all I'm saying.

First time with this Author
I love the story line. Love the characters and how deeply they felt. The only thing that Bothers me about this book is I that Totally was fool into believing Joe Arden narrated along with Stella Bloom. I’ll be honest and say that’s what got me to listen to the authors book. And I feel fooled. Although I did love this book. Next time don’t mess with the readers with regards to narrators.

I almost don't know where to start. The writing was witty and fun. I wanted to smack Kinsey quite a few times. What a hot mess. And, still I liked all of the characters with all of their crazy quirks. You could sort of see someone making these decisions and going through all of this. It was a fun and crazy ride. This could have so easily been one of those roll my eyes, and put down because I would have walked away long ago. Kinsey was a glutton for punishment. But, the writing was witty and good enough not to go over that edge of no return. The comedic timing was perfect and it all just kept me engaged in the story and wanting to know what would happen next. This is my first BJ Harvey book and I look forward to more.
This is also my first time listening to Stella Bloom I think, and she did a fantastic job. The entire book was narrated by her except the last 5 min epilogue. While I'm totally fine with that, it was strange to think it would be narrated by 2 narrators when it really isn't. Though, I've listened to Joe Arden before, and his 5 minutes or less was just as good as his normal narration. A really funny hot mess of a listen.

I can't handle the cheating. Regardless of the reasons. Be a man and ended it. Kenzie has no backbone. you let this man kiss and love you when he has a fiance. Even if she was a coniving woman. Millen didn't look like an alpha to me he looked like a punk beeyotch. Drew too. What kind of alpha can't fight for their own kid!!!!! Like I said, I just can't!!!

Stupid Decisions
**SPOILERS **
Who wouldn’t leave as soon as you found out the truth? Who would wait over 12 hours? Who wouldn’t even leave the house until noon when there is a 2 o’clock wedding and it takes you two hours to get there? Who wouldn’t even make a phone call to make sure the wedding didn’t happen before you got there? While we’re at it, who wouldn’t demand a paternity test, especially when you don’t even remember having sex with the woman? Ridiculous! I wasted hours listening to this.

Enjoyable
I enjoyed this book, although I had some disappointment about how some of the adultery issues were discussed. I bought into the story and felt some pretty deep pangs over what went down, but when the deep conversations came, they fell flat. Millen had said some pretty good stuff when he and Kenzie first talked, but he sure didn't back them up. Some things were glossed over, others just ignored, and I found myself wishing for more depth.
I was disappointed that Joe Arden only narrated the epilogue, as I prefer dual narration. I understand why the story was written solely from the heroine's POV, although with the amount of agonizing Millen supposedly did, the emotional punch could have been so much deeper with his POV. My point as far as the narration goes is that I wish authors would stop making it seem like it's a dual narration when I keep running across it being 99% female narration, with the hero only in a chapter or prologue or epilogue. It feels like a deliberate cheat.

5 angsty stars!
BJ Harvey is a new to me author and I was so excited to give this book a listen. Stella Bloom and Joe Arden are two for my favorite narrators and they did not disappoint. One Shot is an emotional, sexy, angsty, heartbreaking listen with lots of laughter. When Millen Ross meets Kenzie Sharp the spark is instant. They are both drawn to each other like a moth to a flame. They share a few heated, glorious nights together and then Millen is gone, in the blink of an eye. His abandonment leaves Kenzie, broken and confused and struggling to get over their intense connection. Fast forward 3 months and Millen walks back into Kenzie's life and up ends her fragile sense of calm. Family secrets, betrayal, lies, deception and obligations create a chasm between Millen and Kenzie. Can they over come the obstacles that stand in the way of their happily ever after? Or will the power of love bring these two star crossed lovers back together? This was a fantastic listen with ALL THE FEELS. I laughed (literally LOL'd), I cried, I was angry and my heart broke for Millen and Kenzie. Plus wonderful secondary characters (Gabby is the best friend we all wish we had) make this a wonderful listen!!

What a ride!
I was recommended this book, but was not prepared for the story at all! What a ride this story takes you on! Kenzie finds the man of her dreams while working at a bar. After several interactions, she finally goes on a date with the every smooth talking Millen. After an incredible weekend, he says he will call, but we know the story...but the question is why doesn't he? When he walks back into the bar with Kenzie's arch nemesis, so many questions come up it's almost impossible to know where to start. From the opening scene of this book, I knew I was in for it. Easily taken in by Milllen, I knew there would have to be a reason for his actions. This hero has to be good! Harvey has woven this tale of family, love and deception well. My heart ached for both sides while listening, and I can totally understand how each reacted and the decisions they made. The supporting cast of Drew, Gabby and Lana really make the story stand out, but I really fell in love with the Millen's mother and Kenzie's father. I felt their wisdom and insight to their children hit home in each of their scenes. This is an emotional and chaotic journey to find the path to true love.
Stella Bloom is always amazing, and her interpretation of this book is stellar. I love her ability to inflect the pain and emotion, then turn to sarcasm with impeccable comedic timing. Joe Arden reads only the epilogue, and it brings the closure of the story beautifully by Millen. This is a fun and satisfying listen!
