Johnny is 19. He likes music, art and going to the beach. He is also autistic - in his case that means he will probably never get a job, never have a girlfriend, never leave home. And over the last 19 years this is what his father, TV producer and comedy writer Henry Normal and his wife Angela have been trying to come to terms with. This is a book for anyone whose life has been touched by autism - it's about the hope, the despair, and the messy, honest sometimes comical day-to-day world of autism, as well as a wonderful, warm book about the unconditional, unconventional love between a father, a mother and a son.

There wasn't one major reason that Kate Gunn decided to give up alcohol, more a few minor ones. She had an inkling that alcohol was holding her back from getting on top of her life. Plus the hangovers were getting worse. No longer just a dull headache throughout the day. At the worst times, entire weekends wiped out by one fun night she could hardly remember.

Summary
What is life like without alcohol? And could you cope?
If you feel the need to sort out your issue with alcohol but you are scared or reluctant to quit because you can't imagine life without a drink, then this audiobook is for you.
Here's an awakening and thought-provoking book aimed at people contemplating cutting down or even giving up their drinking forever, and a book that might just change your life!
After 40 years of drinking and ending up a total alcoholic mess with type two diabetes, high blood pressure, gout, and truthfully expecting to be dead not long after the age of 56, one day in 2012, I decided to quit alcohol forever. I've never touched a drop since, and I have never been so wonderfully healthy, happy, or contented, and I have hopefully added at least 30 years to my life!
But before that fateful day, I never wanted to give up drinking. I loved drinking, and I couldn't envisage life without the daily joy of bottles of wine, cider, and the occasional gin. So what is it really like when you throw the alcohol crutch away, and how have I coped with what I expected to be a life full of daily challenges, stress, regret, boredom, and witnessing the laughter and the fun times steadily fade into distant memory? What will it be like for you if you follow my example?
This book will help you answer those very questions and hopefully convince you that quitting is easy, that you can do it too, and that you will look back at your life and wonder why you waited so long.

I’ve battled booze for 25 years +
Very real, easy to relate and ask your self the questions. Biggest hurdle in my opinion is denial once you overcome this mental barrier and truly realise, agree that it’s only going one way and actually want stop before you loose everything and hurt everyone, and or drink to death does you part. That’s when you can get away. This book does not preach it puts you into the story somehow and is an affirmation and helps you program your mindset it how brilliant life can be and the freedom and discovery with out the monster booze in your life! Top marks better than any book I the subject I have listened to. And has helped me enormously. Thank you

not much motivation
I understand the writers trying to be helpful, but it's just mainly stories of what he does since he stopped drinking alcohol. some of them are very long-winded and I found boring. at this point I'm not sure if I can even listen to the last hour of the book.
