About this listen

When a pregnant woman is imprisoned on suspicion of murder, she must fight to prove her innocence from behind bars or her baby may be given away to whoever framed her...

Framed. Imprisoned. Pregnant. It's her worst nightmare...

Jenna Burns thought she had the perfect life: a loving fiancé, a great job, a beautiful home.

Then she returns home one day to find her stepdaughter murdered; her partner missing.

And the police think it was her...

Jenna knows she's been framed. But how can she prove it from behind bars?

And then she finds out she is pregnant.
It's not only her life at stake.

Surrounded by prisoners who'd hurt her if they knew what she's accused of; aware that someone outside hates her enough to kill; Jenna will do whatever it takes to clear her name, save her baby, and find out the truth.

But can she do it in time?

Critic reviews

An angry, powerful read - one of those rare crime novels with more to deliver than routine thrills. (Mick Herron, author of London Rules)

I loved it. A searing take on the treatment of women in prison as well as a fast-paced and smart thriller. (Gillian McAllister, author of No Further Questions)
What an amazing, roller-coaster ride and also a searing indictment of the way women are treated in prison. Highly recommended. (Elly Griffiths, author of The Stranger Diaries)

I bought the audio version of this book as I have a long commute to work and needed something to save me from the boredom of the M4. This was a great choice. I was totally gripped from start to finish. There were so many twists and turns in the story with the changing from the past to the present time. Whenever you thought it was going one direction, it knocked you off course and you were following a new path. I loved the main character Jenna but I found those around her just as interesting, especially Kelly.

The narration is by Sarah Durham is exceptionally good. Would definitely recommend.

Narration was excellent and the story line was good. But it seemed padded and then the end rushed.

Good story but ...

Finally.......This is my sort of book, brilliant story, well narrated I couldn't stop listening.

The story was easy to follow, characters easy to relate too. It played out like a movie in my head

Just get it and enjoy the rollercoaster ride - not what I expected or who! One I will remember for a while already passed it on to two friends

Wow!!!!

Really enjoyed the start of the book but the further in it got the more unbelievable it became. My heading says it all, no one remanded in custody after the altercation that occurred in police custody would be placed in the same prison as the perpetrator! One would also hope the U.K. would not treat a person without a conviction in this manor. The prison staff have been poorly portrayed whilst I agree some people in this position would relish the hurt pain and use the position to their favour, the author only truly showed one warden with true caring and fortitude! I did enjoy the narration and chose this book due to hearing her narrate before and loved it.

Pure fantasy

Having read the other books by Angela I was waiting for this one. I could not stop it, I had to keep listening to get to the twist. Very good listen.
