Story
Telryn "Trip" Yert has always been a little odd, with hunches that are too accurate to explain. Magic is feared and forbidden in Iskandia, so he's struggled his whole life to hide his eccentricities. As a boy, he was forced to watch his mother's execution. Her crime? Witchcraft. Understandably, Trip wants nothing to do with the power that lurks within him, always threatening to reveal itself. Instead, he dedicates himself to serving as an officer in the king's army, to battling pirates and imperial conquerors. He longs to become a soldier as respected and renowned as General Zirkander.

Story
An enforcer wanted dead for crimes she didn’t commit.... An assassin wanted dead for crimes he did commit.... Normally, they would be enemies, but they both seek the same thing: exoneration. Unfortunately, a nefarious underground organization is attempting to kill the one man who could grant it to them - the emperor. If they want to win their freedom, they’ll have to battle powerful wizards, outscheme master schemers, and defeat bloodthirsty monsters, all while dodging friendly fire and evading the law. Exoneration isn’t easy.

Story
I’m Val Thorvald, and I’m an assassin. When magical bad guys hurt people, I take care of them. Permanently. This doesn’t make me popular with the rest of the magical community — as you can tell from the numerous break-ins and assassination attempts I’ve endured over the years. But thanks to my half-elven blood, a powerful sword named Chopper, and a telepathic tiger with an attitude, I’ve always been able to handle my problems with aplomb. Maybe some cursing and swearing, too, but definitely aplomb.

After 10 years at war, Jev Dharrow looks forward to hanging up his sword, relaxing with a cool mug of ale, and forgetting that the love of his life married another man while he was gone. But when his ship sails into port, a beautiful woman wearing the garb of an inquisitor from one of the religious orders waits to arrest him. He’s accused of stealing an ancient artifact with the power to start another war. Jev would gladly hand over the artifact to stop more suffering, but he has no idea where it is or even what it looks like. The inquisitor woman definitely has the wrong person.

Summary
General Ridgewalker Zirkander is getting married.
Sardelle - the woman who’s battled dragons, shamans, and countless enemy soldiers at his side - has accepted his proposal, and it’s the perfect time for a wedding. It’s been two months since any dragons or sorceresses attacked the city, the Cofah haven’t come after their kidnapped emperor, and King Angulus has stopped yelling at Ridge for his inadvertent role in destroying the castle.
Yes, it’s the perfect time for a wedding.
Never mind that the resident dragon who thinks he’s a god is pressuring Ridge to build a temple for him, or that the pirate-turned-scientist Tolemek has disappeared. Or that Ridge’s mother is on the verge of discovering that magic exists and her future daughter-in-law is a sorceress. These are small hiccups, and the wedding will go smoothly. Ridge is sure of it. Really.

Fantastic series, hoping for more!!
While this is currently the last book in the series, and the stories so far are nicely wrapped up, the author has provided more than enough possibilities for continuation and I for one would love to hear more of Ridge and Sardelle. My only complaint is I have reached the end of the current series and find myself torn between finding something new or starting with book one of this series again!

Pure fan service
I have loved this series and can't recommend it enough, this book however adds absolutely nothing to the story, it's 11 hours of fan service with no plot progression whatsoever. It's very obvious that this book was never originally intended to be written and book 7 was supposed to be the end of the series (7.5 was essentially a stand-alone title since it was about new characters). The title of this book is "Oaths" but it could have been more accurately titled "Epilogue", it exists simply to satisfy the fan demand to see our heroes get married (and to explicitly wrap up a couple of other things that were only implied would happen in the future in the last book). It's enjoyable but if you're on a budget, it doesn't add anything to the story if you decide not to buy this book, I'd also say that if you haven't reread/re-listened to the entire series in one go recently then I wouldn't really bother, it's nice to listen to as an epilogue but will probably just feel frustrating if you just read the books as they were originally published and you haven't had a refresher. I suppose my only real gripe is that if you're going to continue the series, then there's no real reason why we couldn't have all new proper stories centering around established characters, there's still so much potential, with the Iskandians general acceptance of Sardelle, they're now in a position for a major leap forward in technology, a jump forward a few years to where Tylie is now a trained sorceress ready to bond with her Soulblade and at the same time the Cofah princess would now be a little older and perhaps ready to get married and possibly attempt to claim the Cofah throne (backed by a new squadron of long range bomber dragon fliers with more powerful crystals and perhaps Tolemek and Sardelle using Kasandral as a model could design new guns for the fliers that can launch fireballs) and bring about a new time of peace between the Empire and Iskandia. There are definitely still exciting places that the series can go, so there isn't really much of an excuse to write a book where essentially nothing happens, the events that take place in this book could easily have happened at the same time as some events that furthered the plot. I hope that more books are written and the story continues, this book was alright, it's just hard not to feel a little cheated paying full price for an 11 hour epilogue.

The Marriage is finally here..
Marriage. Dragons. And plots of theft. Compared to the rest of the Dragon Blood series, this one is quite a bit tamer, which I really enjoyed. I'm glad they could have a semi-relaxing time after all the chaos of the earlier books. Some of the timeline is surprising to me. I felt like after the 7 books, it had spanned many years, but according to a piece of narrative in here, it'd only been like a year and a half since the first book. I thought that was a whole lot of junk to happen in two years. Anyway, I really enjoyed the book, the dragons, and as always, the brilliant characters that Lindsay Buroker has developed.
