Summary

What started out as a couple of blog posts blossomed into a following of over 1,000,000 people - who have all read and been touched by Mowry’s stories. The most extraordinary thing he found when writing about his experiences is that the most common comment about his work is “OMG that’s me. You are telling my story. I don’t feel so alone now".

Living with mental illness is hard, but it’s especially difficult when dealing with more than one condition at the same time. Many books about coping with mental illness focus on one disorder, such as anxiety, panic attacks, or depression. Because Dave Mowry didn’t see any that dealt with his situation of living with multiple disorders simultaneously, he decided to write about it himself.

OMG That’s Me! is sometimes funny, often poignant, but always deeply honest, open, and personal. Mowry's stories let others know there is help and there is hope, and that they too can recover and live a full life. This audiobook is a must listen for family members and friends who will gain true insight into the experiences of loved ones living with a mental illness. This audiobook is a must listen for mental health professionals who will better understand the symptoms faced by their patients. And ordinary people will see the strength, resilience, and beauty of people that will shatter the stigma surrounding mental illness.

Doesn't work well as an audio book

Interesting book. It was difficult to finish because the narration was poor (Ralph Scott sounds like he's trying too hard and Kendra Murray's attempts at different voices was grating - the Malaysian one is a classic). The regular mention of Dave Mowry's other book and his current job became tedious, as did the general amount of repetition, including a sentence repeated in each chapter, presumably because it's highlighted in the text. Probably worth obtaining a copy of actual book rather than listening to it.

I so understand!

I was just trying to find something to help me through a rough time, and hit the nail on the head. I'm not alone, or a lesser person.

Amazing read

I was hooked even before the first chapter. The introduction alone was like reading a page from my own journal. I feel heard, understood, and supported. Thankyou for writing this!

YUP, Thats me too

This was an incredibly accurate description of how I feel. It really explains the struggles and pain that we deal with daily. It is comforting to know that there are actually people out there who understand what it is like. I plan to show this book to my husband in hopes that it will help our marriage as I am incredibly difficult to live with and do not know how to accurately and calmly express myself.
I really enjoyed this book. The narration is excellent aside from the fact that there are parts that seem to repeat. I still definitely recommend this book.

Amazing Read!!!!!

This is my first book about mental health and truly I have to say.....OMG it's me!!!!! I have GAD, OCD and depression and I relate to everything in this book. I recently started therapy and will definitely discuss this book with my therapist. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is feeling alone and misunderstood. I also recommend this to family and friends of BPD sufferers.
