Summary
Her city is under siege.
The zombies are coming back.
And all Nona wants is a birthday party.
In many ways, Nona is like other people. She lives with her family, has a job at her local school, and loves walks on the beach and meeting new dogs. But Nona's not like other people. Six months ago she woke up in a stranger's body, and she's afraid she might have to give it back.
The whole city is falling to pieces. A monstrous blue sphere hangs on the horizon, ready to tear the planet apart. Blood of Eden forces have surrounded the last Cohort facility and wait for the Emperor Undying to come calling. Their leaders want Nona to be the weapon that will save them from the Nine Houses. Nona would prefer to live an ordinary life with the people she loves, with Pyrrha and Camilla and Palamedes, but she also knows that nothing lasts forever.
And each night, Nona dreams of a woman with a skull-painted face...

Fall in love with the characters - then cry
Fall in love with the characters - then cry.
narraratornis the best I have ever heard.
story is fantastic, and considering it last iver 5 days with a few flash backs it adds brilliantly to the locked tomb series.

This series is INSANE but I love it
I’ll be honest this book felt like a fever dream, but this is easily my favourite book series I’ve ever read.
Moira Quirk is so talented in bringing the story to life.

Wow just wow.
Well if you're at this point reading my review you've already got through the confusion of Harrow the Ninth and it just gets better from there. Still lots of lovely confusion but much clearer in this one for me. I did have to clarify a couple of bits online after I finished but this book has lots of answers about the history of it all which is brilliant. On to the next book which I'm thoroughly looking forward to now.
The best narration by Moira Quirk as usual which is very appreciated with so many characters.

The locked tomb is the best clusterfudge of confusion
I feel like Nona not having a clue what’s going on half the time. The series keeps you wondering what’s happened and is going to happen next before it starts to fall into place and make sense.

try not to make my cry so much
this is an amazing book which is such a sad and moving installment in the series. I am literally crying at the ending. I am undone (a quote from book 1) it's so good. I cannot wait for book 4.

4/5
It's been a couple of years since I last visited the Locked Tomb series so I decided I'd give Nona a listen. Nona lives in a turbulent city with Cam and Pyrrah who look after her. She's friends with a bunch of local kids from school. But there's something a bit different about Nona...
- Not quite as confusing as Harrow the Ninth but Nona still took a while to make sense. This might be due to the gap in reading but also seems like Muir's writing style too. She throws out the tidbits of info in a seemingly random way then brings them together(ish) for the end.
- Nona was super sweet and I loved her naïve view of the world and how things worked. I particularly liked how she interacted with the other characters and her foray into friendship.
- We meet some familiar (and occasionally hidden) faces from previous books. I did enjoy how those characters have changed due to events and how they move forward.
I eagerly await Alecto the Ninth after the epilogue of this book. A worthy entry to the series.

What's going on? Who cares? Doggo.
The mystery of what happened to Harrow can be harrowing, but if you give over to the joy that is Nona amidst the misery that is the world and accept that you have fuck-all understanding of anything that is going on just as much as her, it's a great listen. The voice done for Pash was a bit grating, but fitting for the character. The voice done for Pyrrha was sexy as fuck.

Not for me.
I enjoyed the first two books but this just didn't catch me. only my personal opinion. I'm sure it is generally OK but I couldn't finish it.

Quirky young adult sci-fi
An interesting mixture of sci-fi cliché and originality. It’s hard to work out quite what it is at times, as at one time it is a run of the mill ‘young adult’ sci-fi, the next it is as impenetrable as James Joyce, then, just as you are thinking of maybe putting it down, something comes from left field to surprise and delight you.
