Feel good reading
I am reading the series and really enjoyed this second book. It is chick lit so it's an easy read. The plot is mostly predictable but there were a few additions to keep interest up.
I am really enjoying the feelgood nature of the book; the roller coaster ride with a sprinkle of high and lows that concludes with a happy ending.
The narrator really brought the characters to life and made the story come to life.
I'm back to store now to buy the third book in the series. I usually have a break and have a different read between books but it must be good as I am ready and willing for the third book now.

Does not live up to book 1.
I didn't hate this book but I didnt love it either.
Book 1 of the series - the chocolate pot cafe was a fantastic little read, I had high hopes for this book and the rest of the series, After reading this one, I wont be bothering with the others. The first book was full of layers - this seemed very flat by comparison, almost like the writer had a multi book deal and had to bang out something else. It didnt have the twists and turns, it was flat. Add to that the fact that it didnt follow on from the previous book at all!
This book was set in the same street as the original book but in a different building. Apart from them going back to the cafe a few times (setting of the original book) and the odd name being mentioned in passing, there was no link at all. I knew this book was about a diffrent character but expected there to be more tie ins and I was disappointed not to get any insight into how the original characters were doing. A great let down after such a promising start

Disappointing storyline
I listened to the full story but I’m not sure why. The lead is such a whiny character who doesn’t seem to care for anyone but herself, moaning continually and she is even given a thriving shop and still manages to be depressed about it. There is a wierd side story about an uncle who died alone, she is scared of storms because of finding him and there are many many storms in this book each of which make her sink into an even more depressing state. I’ve lived in North Yorkshire and never experienced so many storms every few weeks! The narrator is good when she is the lead but the depressing voices she gives to the men in the story make it an overall really difficult book to enjoy. I was glad the book ended as I promised myself I’d listen to the end but definitely don’t recommend it as it leaves you with a flat feeling and I definitely won’t be reading the others in the series.

Annoying main character
This could have been a good story but unfortunately the main character was really annoying and it was frustrating to listen to how self centred she is. She is the sort of character that only good things happens to but she is still wants more. She splits with her boyfriend and needs to move out of their shared home and it just so happens that her aunt randomly decides to give her her successful business and her home (for free). On the first day running the business she meets the man of her dreams but she continues to look for another man in case this dream man was not ‘the one’ and dumps him when she finds one with a more appropriate name. When she thinks the dream man has moved on she suddenly decides she wants him after all. She seeks advice from her best friends and delights that they fight for her affection. Such a spoilt brat and a character I really didn’t care about.

Narrator did her best
The storyline wasn't enough to carry an even marginally convincing book, though possibly it could have worked as a short story. Our heroine was unbelievably stupid, constantly holding pre-teen-type internal debates and leaping to ridiculous conclusions, which in reality would have made her incapable of holding down a responsible job, let alone enable her to run a successful business and inspire devotion to so many around her. If the book hadn't been included in my audible membership I'd have returned it, but I decided to continue to the end, partly intrigued by the formulaic and weak diversions that were used to stretch it to a full-length book. I'll certainly take care to avoid this writer in the future.

Easy listen to someone young
Unfortunately I am too old for this story. It is well written but it is also frustrating to listen for someone my age (35+). The end was very predictable. Sudden scandalous behaviour of one of the characters that was so decent few lines before… just not for me.

Very enjoyable audiobook
This was my first Jessica Redland audiobook and I can’t wait to listen to more by this author. The narration by Lucy Brownhill was excellent as well. The story moved very well and kept me entertained the entire time. The twist at the end was a fun surprise. It was nice to hear a story that wasn’t loaded with four letter words.

if you don't mind a ditsy heroine, it could be ok
The narrator does a fine job and she's the only reason I persisted. I tried...really tried.. but couldn't handle the idiocy of the heroine. Seriously? Who would really go buy an entire outfit and lingerie to meet a window cleaner called Steve (that she's never seen & never met) because a teenage birthday party's fortune teller said a "Steve" would be in her future? Desperate much? I just couldn't make it past that insane and ridiculous flight of "fancy". Maybe the heroine gets a therapist and with professional help becomes somewhat grounded in reality..maybe, but I didn't have the patience to find out because it was so stupid it wasn't even funny. Maybe it could be funny to someone else! I hope this can bring joy to someone else. I was disappointed.
