Slow starter but…. Worth the effort to finish

I was very unsure of this book during the first few chapters but stuck with it as I have really enjoyed many of Paul Finch’s other books.

I’m glad I did.

A slow burner that draws you in. Not the same character as Mark Heckenburg but of that vain.

David Thorpe, as always, does a great job with the narration.

Okay, but lost my interest!

I stuck with this longer than I might have due to the positive reviews, but I gave up at chapter 27 as I was past caring. I did find it very good in places. If it was tighter, it might have been 5* for me. The quality of the writing is very good and, as usual, David Thorpe’s narration is excellent. Unfortunately, I found it just dragged on too much.

Brilliant

Couldn’t put this down. Roll isn’t writing - Paul Finch is a master at creating heart in the mouth moments and tense situations. David Thorpe is an excellent narrator and does a brilliant job. I have listened to all of Paul Finch’s books but will now seek out the books David Thorpe has narrated. Hopefully this will become a series of books.

5 star

Absolutely loved it! Great story, it did take a little while to get going but worth it in the end.

A mediocre tale of intrigue

The book had a promising start but it then developed into a mediocre tale of intrigue, concluding with a gangland chase and predictable ending. I found most of the reader’s female voices irritating, either high-pitched and whiny or weak and simpering (apart from the gang member).
