Summary

A shocking true story of a girl's affair with her father.

After years of suffering multiple forms of abuse, a vulnerable young girl flees her home only to land straight into the arms of her biological father - a sexual predator.

My Daddy the Pedophile tells the harrowing true story of a teenage girl’s affair with her manipulative sociopathic father. After a terrible dark secret comes to light, the real story unfolds and her courageous journey of healing begins.

Powerful and inspiring, My Daddy the Pedophile offers hope, encouragement, and the knowledge that although the road may be bumpy and the journey long, it is always possible to prevail over great trauma.

Critic reviews

"If you are easily shocked by what occurs behind closed doors in some average suburban neighborhoods, do not read this book. If you want to read a riveting tale of manipulation, abuse, and courageous healing, then this is the book for you." (Sharyn Higdon Jones, MFT, author of Healing Steps

"Lily Palazzi's memoir, My Daddy the Pedophile is a riveting, well-paced account of both how her father's calculated manipulation of her desperate need to be loved subjected her to the wounding distortions of incest and how through therapy and the true love of her husband she ultimately finds the healing she had once thought would never be possible." (Catherine McCall, author of the international best seller Never Tell)

“It pulls you along from page to page.... There's no self pity, no hate - just a suspenseful, honest, highly readable account of how a human being can emerge whole from even the worst of childhoods.” (Adair Lara, author of Naked, Drunk, and Writing)

painfully accurate

I went through very similar. The feelings and confusion is exactly the same as described in this book. It must have been both incredibly difficult but therapeutic to write this book, and I have nothing but admiration for how she has overcome the demons of her past.

I wouldn't recommend listening to/reading this for someone currently in, or very recently out of, the throes of abuse, as I found myself dissociating at certain parts in the book.

Very well written, narrated beautifully and exceptionally validating.

Couldn't stop listening to this until the end.

Shocking, heartbreaking but heartwarming. Would recommend, especially for other survivors. It really helped me. Love to the author 💕

difficult to listen to at times

I want to start by saying this is a story I think a lot of people who have been through abuse can relate to. it is hard to listen to and at times I wanted to shake the teenage version of the writer. Ultimately, this feels like a genuine retelling of her life, and the confusion that she faced and still faces. It is honest in ways that I think a lot of survivers fear to be, I know I sometimes miss the people that abused me and how much simpler things had seemed despite hating everything that they had done and knowing how wrong it was.

There was a review I saw saying that this story almost glorifies pedophilia but that isn't the case. To begin with, I can almost see how they came to that conclusion but I think part of it is a young child/young adult trying to cope with everything. The familiarity of something bad is comforting, change is hard and it's easier to fall back into what we know.

I cannot say that I have positive thoughts towards either parent in this tale, but I can understand how the writer does. I think we all want to see the best in the people we care about.

Disgusting

This book made me feel sick listening to it. It glorifies child sexual abuse. Avoid it at all costs.

couldn't put it down

This book was something that evoked curiosity at 1st and then shock, uncomfortable moments, tears, laughter and much more. A real eye opener. So we'll written and a roller coaster throughout so couldn't out it down. Publishers that refused to publish this missed out here and shame on them. I don't read these sort of books alot I read fiction dystopian but it caught my attention. Definitely glad I got it and would read again as well as recommend.

Tragic and healing

This book is tragic And brought up memories from my own childhood.

I would like to commend the author that she brought up that sexual abuse can feel pleasurable at times and that can be your bodies natural response.

This fact is hardly spoken about and holds a lot of shame for the victim.

Not a good, but thanks for sharing

I struggled to finish. I really want to like it because I am all for women sharing their truths. However, despite the topic it lacked emotion. The story was all over and was missing direction. I think the editing was poor, I like the narrator's voice so I can't blame her for the lack of content. I think the book is missing more depth.

A good book but a lot at times

I’ll be the first to say that I’m a true crime fanatic I love true crime. So that’s why I thought I’d give this book a try. It’s nothing like I imagined. It’s a GREAT book BUT extremely hard to listen to at times. It’s amazing how this woman came out on top after everything she went through. I highly recommend it but just be aware that at times I had to walk away to give myself a break from it.

Wow... so sad.

Being a victim of rape and after years of recovery, it is a bittersweet journey to know others can overcome such trauma. It’s heartbreaking to know that parents can cause such trauma in their own children’s lives. It’s hard to believe that this is a true story. But it is a huge eye-opener that these things really happens to real ppl.

A life guide for anyone who is or loves a father-daughter incest survivor

Thank you for sharing your story Lily. You understand the mix of intense pain, sadness, hate, and anger all mixed with compassion, love, and the deep desire to end abusive manipulation that comes with silently-violent grooming, incest, and sexual misconduct. You make sense of the most complicated and bring light to the inner child healing process.

Such a beautiful story of a life no girl should live.

I absolutely loved this book. Well written. Couldn’t put the book down. Such a horrific story and a little girl. And such a strong girl to grow up, receive the help needed and heal.

Tw: VERY discript

This book reads differently than many child abuse memoirs. It gets VERY discript, to the point you’d almost feel like you’re ready a risqué novel instead. I questioned the author many times through out the first 1/2 of the book, the abuse was so romanticized. But as I listened further, this was her experience and a valid one at that. No the book did not end romanticizing her abuse, but instead all of the work and effort she went through in order to heal herself. She did what many authors don’t do, she reveals the darkest and most shameful parts of her mind. She remains honest to let other abuse victims know, what they experienced, they are not alone.
