About this listen
Join these two comedy greats and lifelong friends on their journey from recuperation to riverbank in this hilarious and heart-warming audiobook that gives you a front-row seat at an exclusive Bob and Paul production.
Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse have been friends for 30 years, but when life intervened, what was once a joyous and spontaneous friendship dwindled to the odd phone call or occasional catch up. Then, Glory Be! They were both diagnosed with heart disease and realised that time is short. They'd better spend it fishing....
So they dusted off their kits, chucked on their waders and ventured into the achingly beautiful British countryside to fish, rediscover the joys of their friendship and ruminate on some of life's most profound questions, such as: How did we get so old? Where are all the fish? What are your favourite pocket meats? What should we do if we find a corpse?
Following the success of the BBC's Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing series, this wonderful audiobook by two lifelong friends is a love letter to the joys of angling, the thrill of the catch and the virtue of having a right daft laff with your mates. On the fish, the equipment, the food, and the locations, Gone Fishing is the perfect audiobook for fans of Bob Mortimer, Paul Whitehouse and for anyone who wants to listen to a brilliantly written and endlessly funny joint memoir on life, friendship and joys of fishing.
Audio edition includes an exclusive fishing trip with Bob and Paul.

Touching and Funny
A fantastic companion to the TV Series.Audio trump's the written word in this case and really makes the case for fishing.

A fun listen
Enjoyable listen, informative and fun. Though the conversation felt somewhat wooden at one or two places the story flowed quite nicely.
I like to think both are just a bit more serious alongside a river bank, as I’d be pretty miffed if those two were mucking about close by to my fishing spot :).

if you loved their programme you may love this.
A mixture of chapters combining casual sounding conversation, loosely outlined topics and scripted snippets of reading. A delightful listen that evokes the feeling I had when I wanted to fish as an 8 year old. My brother was bought some rods from Argos. I remember one was blue. Being a girl I was not allowed to have one but adapted my kite line and got some hooks and tried dangling the line over piers and from trees. This book makes you reflect on past life; reflect on current one including the sobering thought of possible becoming long term ill. But there is hope and humour. It so has the long gone bantor I used to have down at the pub when I was in my 20 s. Paul and Bob are examples that show it does not go away just the opportunities. Paul and Bob have revisited that opportunity. They are creating snapshots of childhood whilst experiencing that joy you get from being immersed in nature. Interesting sections on fish types and history of fishing. I am the same age as they are. I want to look after my heart more but also like to take another go at fishing.

Brilliant, honest heart warming, funny
I’ve watched these guys doing their thing since I was a teenager and the older you get the more you appreciate how much a certain thing means to people. I too love fishing but this is a story of more than fishing, this is about a genuine love between two great mates. Two lucky men to be able to have a laugh and do what they want to do. I totally loved this book and will watch the tv series over and over. Thanks Bob and Paul...

Even better than the series!
If you loved the TV series, you'll love this. If you didn't love the TV series, there is still a lot in here for you if you're a fan of either Bob or Paul. Cannot recommend enough.

more, more !!
I loved the book and found myself totally absorbed with the discussions between to two friends.
I was disappointed when it finished and was hoping that it would be somewhat longer.
well read and presented, Bob and Paul should develop this into a podcast series where they discuss their latest trip, food and anecdotes.
thank you both for this,
steve

Good read despite having no interest in fishing
I have absolutely no interest in fishing or cooking so found a couple of chapters quite boring otherwise it would have been 5 stars from me

Lovely Stuff!
A very enjoyable audio book even for a non fisherman. It feels like you are just sat with friends and even though you’ve nothing to add to the conversation you are just enjoying listening to them natter away.
