Intense opening chapter!
What a great start to a, new to me, series! Intense and fast moving, the scene is set for what I anticipate will be a compelling listen. Michael's presence is strong and focused. A protector and leader Michael is surrounded by his brothers who he leads and protects, keeping them as safe as he can from the dark, looming presence of their father. But his life is about to change. I am excited to continue this journey! As always, an immaculate performance from Jason Clarke as narrator. He brings a richness of tone and natural expression to the story drawing you into the narrative with seemingly effortless skill. 💖💖💖💖💖

Brilliant introduction to the Mafia
This story is an introduction to Michael, the reason for his obsession with and introduction to Karma. I am so going to read the next book. The narrator is excellent.

I love this short prequel
I love this short prequel! We're introduced to Michael and his family. It is fast paced and action packed!! It definitely leaves you eager to know more 😍😍
I love Jason Clarke as a narrator, he does a fantastic job with this one!

Short, but action-packed!
I found this action-packed prequel intriguing and it sets off the story for Michael and Karma.
Jason Clarke’s performance was phenomenal and I can’t wait to listen to Mafia King.

Mafia prequel
I did listen to this out of order as I started with Mafia King. Probably best to start at the beginning but it was still ok to go back and listen to this prequel.
I enjoy L Steele’s books and enjoyed this prequel as you get introduced to the main character and start to understand his role in the family and the mafia. A good start to the series which I enjoyed
Actor is great and this really was engaging

A short setup novella from the male character's POV. Filled with violence and sex - exactly what you're looking for in an arranged marriage set in the mafia world - narrated deliciously by Jason Clarke.
The female POV preview at the end was enough to tell me I won't be continuing this series on audio - her voice is more suited to Regency romance or kids' cartoons than mafia BDSM.
