I probably would have rated this 4 stars because it was a little slow at times, but the incredibly unique concept and relationship building drew me in and I got really immersed in the book which pushed the rating up. There are aspects that could be made stronger, but it was still a great listen.

Brilliant, Beautiful & Emotional 💞💞

Absolutely Loved.. This Nicky James is Brilliant what can I say what a roller-coaster of emotions the books amazing but with audio it pulls you in and doesn't let go. Love Vaughn and Oryn it's heartbreaking his 5 alters Reed, Cohen Theo cute Rain and not forgetting Cove who I just want to hug and protect are amazing and Adam Gold is fantastic at bringing them all to life. Love... Love.. Loved it Breathtaking 💞💞💞

In this genre, it's my pick of the year

A masterpiece. A great story beautifully told. Expect a thorough serving of entertainment and, particularly, education, on this challenging and difficult topic. Last but not least, some clever writing will almost certainly produce some tears in the reader on this emotion packed rollercoaster. Intense, challenging and a thoroughly rewarding read.

In this genre, it's my pick of the year.

All I can say is WOW!!!

I absolutely loved this book when I read it on my kindle. When I saw it had come out on audio I couldn't wait to listen to it. The emotional story of Oryan and Vaughn is so beautiful. The narrator did a fantastic job bringing the story to life, I laughed and cried and just loved every minute of it.

Brilliant

Absolutely loved the book but listening to the audio was great. Loved how Adam Gold was able to portray Oryn alters . And loved the scene in the museum with Rain
Highly recommend even if you have not read the book the audio will suck you in .

Loved it mostly but…

This is a beautiful, unique and very interesting story. I knew a bit about did before from YouTube and a bit of reading on line, but I enjoyed how informative this story was.
I loved all the characters, Vaughn is so kind and patient and I really liked his friends and his family.
Oryn is such a sweet character, my heart broke for him so many times. I love that even with his condition and how much it affected him at times he always remained kind and thankful towards Vaughn, he never acted like a dick towards him and always remained grateful for everything that Vaughn did for him and his system.
I loved the alters and their different personalities, they definitely made the story very interesting even if at times they’d take over at the most irritating times.

What I struggled with and what broke my heart most was how much Oryn missed out on, the museum, the beach and even at the end of the story Cohen had to take over, which I understand why, it just made me feel bad for him. I just wish that one thing could have been for Oryn and Vaughn, I know realistically why that couldn’t be the case, but still that’s just how I felt.

All that said I throughly enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Unique and beautiful

Audio just as fabulous as the book was. I wish I could give more stars. If you are in a rut and want something completely different than this is what you need. AMAZING and I want more! It stays with you for a long time after you finish that you want to start over at the beginning immediately.

Highly recommend and easily a reread/listen (I'm already on 3 times this year).

Narrator was fabulous. He made all the voices unique and enjoyable. Would love more from him. If I had a small criticism it would be I didn't like the echoing voice when it was a thinking sentence (I didn't mind the unique telephone conversation audio).

Unique!

I am left astonished and dumbfounded by this book. It was heartfelt and beautiful. If you are indecisive, just give it a try. The narrating alone will captivate you. Awesome! deserves all the stars!!

Beyond incredible! So complex and with so much heart!!

This book gave me a book hangover of epic proportions! I’m still hungover! Amazing, complex, with so much heart, care and emotions and so much knowledge and care was taken around Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)…absolutely phenomenal!!

As with all Nicky’s creations you can tell she puts all the love and care into her words. Her writing ebbs and flows with such ease and love you can’t help but fall for her characters and these two are no exception! Oryn and Vaughn are truly wonderful characters and the details around Oryn’s DID and his alters is exceptional. I loved the care that went into each alter and their unique personalities. I loved Vaughn’s care, desire to learn and friendship he has for Oryn and all his alters. I love how Vaughn subconsciously wanted to and tried to help Oryn and every turn and eventually with his Doctors helps Oryn find a better balance with his alters and eventually begins to heal and achieve a better state of co-consciousness. I loved all the alters in their own ways and each was complex and detailed it was easy to differentiate them and their identities in Oryn system. I loved Cohen and his shameless flirting, Reed and his protectiveness and somewhat alpha maleness, Cove and his depressive, self-destructive, misunderstood nature. Nicky did Cove so well, he becomes so relatable and his role in the system is crucial, while scary at times. I loved reading/listening to Cove’s recovery and desire to help from the unspeakable things that had happened to him. Theo and Rain are adorable and I loved the insight into the ‘inner world’ where Rain is Theo’s adoptive son, they would work so well together and Rain is just adorable!!

Adam’s narration of this story is beyond AMAZING! He injects each character with their unique personality and a different voice that reflects that personality. The way he tells the story from each alters the point of view as well as Oryn and Vaughns while finding balance in the overall story is exceptional. I felt like I was listening to a movie with all the different characters. Adam’s talented narration for this story has made him of my favorite narrators and his talent for this story is exceptional!!! I couldn’t have loved it more!!!

All in all, this is a complex story that will touch your heart in so many ways and draw you into a world that is the reality for some DID sufferers and their partners, family, and friends. An incredible creation by Nicky, I couldn’t love it more!!!!!

Beautifully written amazing story ...about something I’d never given much thought to before. I only hope for every Oryn there’s a Vaughn!
