Story
The story begins on the Italian coast in 1962. A young innkeeper watches in disbelief as a beautiful American girl gets out of a boat and climbs towards his hotel. She turns out to be an actress, on the run from the shenanigans going on down the coast in Rome at the filming of Cleopatra. A few days later international star Richard Burton, much the worse for wear, appears in the village, too. Half a century later, and half a world away in Hollywood, an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the woman he last saw in his hotel 50 years before.

When the end of the world arrived, it came not with a bang, as most expected, but with more of a "pfft" instead. Humanity has been torn asunder and brought to the edge of total annihilation in less than an hour. For those who died, it was a quick death, so fast that their brains didn't have time to process the pain signals from their nerves. For those who survived, the true horror is about to begin as they struggle to not only stay alive, but come to grips with the shocking realization about what - and who - was responsible.

A sweet, clean, contemporary story
This is the first story I have heard/read by this author. This is a sweet clean read/listen. Admittedly, the main characters at times did annoy me - the lead female character especially, was a bit more dramatic than what I generally like but she was spunky & not shy about being forward. - just very dramatic at times. Narration took a little getting used to but I feel that it was well done overall.

Enjoyable
This story began with an emotional jolt as Ada loses her father in the first chapter. She inherits the family sweet shop which is not doing well and Ada and her cousin Lucas are struggling to keep it afloat. Daniel offers to buy the shop and turn it into a gluten free café however Ada refuses his offer. This was a sweet romantic story about a couple who have suffered loss and must deal with the aftermath. There were some very emotional scenes and an interesting and enjoyable storyline. I thought the narrator did a good job with the narration. I received a free copy of this audiobook and have voluntarily provided an unbiased review.

The Narrator is not for me.
There is something about the narrator that really makes this story not that enjoyable. I’d like to say that it could be something you could look past, but even in one instance, the word phone was so hard to understand, it wasn’t worth continuing on.
Disclamer: I received a free code from the author. All opinions are my own.

Nice story, decent performance
I enjoyed the story, as stated loss is a part of this story, so reader be aware.
Second book in the series with no connection to characters in book 1.
The narrator was decent. She was able to portray various characters, had a nice variation in tone, pitch, and accent. It was pleasant to listen to.

Nice romance
I listened to this on audible. It was a nice wholesome story included a loss. That's why the 4 stars for me. I tend to read for escape and stories that have a loss aren't always my favorite. But a good story.

Sweet, clean romance
I really did enjoy the story of Ads and Daniel. Both were dealing with the loss of a loved one the best that could. While everyone deals with grief differently, I wish that there was more honesty between the two.
I took off a star for the narration. Penny Scott-Andrews did a good job one I got used to her accent (which was distracting at first).
I was given this audio book at my request and am voluntarily leaving this review.

A wonderful, heartwarming, clean romance
Story: 5
I loved this story! Upon first hearing the narrator, you think it’s going to be all fluff. But no. This story has real depth as our H and h try to work through their separate griefs. Their progress toward love was wonderful to listen to.
Narrator: 4 stars
I’ll be honest, when I first heard the narrator’s voice, I thought it was going to end up being annoyed by her voice, I’m pretty picky about narrators and had just suffered through 2 books where I needed closure, but couldn’t stand the narrator. Her voice turned out to be perfect for the characters. The narrator has an upbeat, joyous voice and did a great job with the tender, heart-felt moments, as well as the happier ones. Her American accent is pretty good, not perfect, but plenty good enough. I’d happily listen to her narrate other books: I looked forward to my listening time each day, I liked her that much.

Honest review
If a narrator can ruin a book, this one did. she makes the female characters sound stupid and whiny.
I almost gave up on the book few times just because the narrator almost sounded like someone was torturing a cat.
The story is not so bad but still I find the female main character written kind of naive, week and stupid.
If I ever met someone who speaks like this character I would excuse myself and walk away. very boring character. I could not sympathize with her just annoyance.

Cute, Clean Romance
I received this audiobook free for an honest review. This author writes clean, cute, pleasant stories. That doesn't mean they are boring. They are exciting, thrilling and heartwarming stories. Ada is a strong, determined woman. Daniel is a rich, attactive and detemined man. What a combination. The author keeps you interesed from beginning to end. The narrator did a great job with the personalities of the characters in this story.
