About this listen

Tall, dark, and handsome Benedict Carsington, Viscount Rathbourne is the perfect aristocrat. As the heir to the Earl of Hargate, he is renowned for his perfect manners, perfect breeding, and perfect wardrobe. Unlike his scandalous brothers, Benedict is in no danger of ending up in the scandal sheets - until he meets her.

Bathsheba Wingate, is a member of the DeLucey family - the rotten side - notorious for being cheats, frauds, and swindlers. It's no wonder her deceased highborn husband's family disowned him when they wed. Still, she's determined to see her daughter, Olivia, raised a proper lady, despite the disruptive DeLucey genes she seems to have inherited. When Olivia strong-arms Rathbourne's precocious nephew to join her adventure in search a fabled cache of pirated DeLucey treasure, Benedict and Bathsheba must rush after them to avoid a scandal of disastrous proportions. Who knew that such an impossible match would be the perfect temptation for them both?

What a joy

Every book in this series has been better than the one before. This one made me laugh out loud. My favourite part was when Octavia hit Peregrine with his sketch book because he said that girls could not be Knights.
The narration was amazing as usual a good old love fashioned love story. Thank you to all concerned

Wonderfully entertaining

I laughed so much, it's full of delightful humour. A romantic farce and the narrator is excellent.

Frothy and fun with excellent narration

Eureka! I've found another narrator who brings a story to life. So many books are ruined by dreadful narration.

Love Loretta Chase

Loretta Chase is unusual in the historical romance genre for not only writing great characters you can genuinely root for, but there is always a good level of romance/steam, a cracking storyline and her writing is always FUN. Pithy, funny dialogue and low angst - just perfect. The ending of this one was a little under developed but I loved the premise of a chase throughout the book and Benedict and Bathsheba make a gorgeous couple.
The narration is pretty good - the American narrator does an impressive job of the English accents, but she has an upward inflection which sometimes becomes annoying and she still uses American pronunciation for words like “aristocratic”, “adult” etc. She also races through the steamy scenes, which I found a bit frustrating! But overall, a great audiobook to listen to while doing some errands!

Fun on the run!

I do so enjoy Loretta Chase., as long as Kate Reading is narrating. Another triumph.
