Complexly excellent
Really good book, that keeps you guessing the whole way through. Well narrated also. Enjoyed the interview at the end. Highly recommend

Two stories, one excellent and the other far fetched.
As the headline states one story was excellent and that was the Murray and Sarah tale which wove around the rather far fetched story of the Johnsons.
The main story of the Johnsons suicides, their daughters inheritance, alcoholism, domestic abuse, patient and med staff relationship, lies, resentment etc was all a bit much.
When you stopped to think, which I fortunately did about half way through, I realised there were more potholes in the story than on many UK B roads, so it was an annoying and irritating ride by the end.
Clare Mackintosh pulls you into the intrigue with twist and turns, but you have to question the reality of some scenarios that are really quite preposterous.
The two narrators sounded too similar, which should have been addressed.
On a positive note the information and advice on suicide, the Samaritain and bereavement was excellent, and informative.

Read it for the policeman’s story
Pale imitation of I Let You Go. It tries to repeat the trick of flipping our assumptions but lacks finesse and credibility.
However the character study of the policeman and his wife was fascinating and touching - almost seemed to be written by someone else.

Good but not brilliant
I wanted to know how this developed and was good but didn’t get me on the edge of my seat. Still worth a listen though as was ok

Fantastic.
I thought I had it sussed about the "partner in crime" but that one caught me completely off guard.
Fantastic book and narration. I'm going to download some more from Clare Mackintosh.
I loved the Q&A at the end of the book also. Clare answered one of MY questions that I would have asked so THANK YOU!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.

Amazing!!
Such a cleverly constructed book that kept me guessing until the end. Great characters and twisty plot made it one of the best books I listened to in ages. Thank you Clare, inspirational.

Excellent listen
Really enjoyed the format of this book, great story. Listened to it in just two days as was hooked from the start! Highly recommended. Also listen all the way to the end as the interview with Clare is interesting.

I didn't see that coming!
Brilliant plot. Relatable characters. amazing twists.
Just one thing, it's impossible to "commit suicide " anymore, as it's no longer illegal. One merely kills oneself.
