Summary
"Barbara Freethy delivers riveting, plot-twisting suspense and a deeply emotional story. Every book is a thrilling ride." (Rachel Grant, USA Today best-selling author)
I was working at my sister's clothing boutique in Carmel when I got the call. The hospital told me that my mother had been shot and was in critical condition. This could be my last chance to see her, and I needed to go to San Francisco immediately. I was stunned. Not just because of the horrific news, but also because my mother had died in a storm twenty years ago….
To find out the truth, I'll have to dive into the life of the woman in the hospital bed, into her past and mine. But as I get closer to the truth, the target moves from her to me…and suddenly her life isn't the only one on the line.
From number one New York Times best-selling author Barbara Freethy comes a tangled, twisty tale of secrets and lies in a thrilling standalone domestic thriller that will keep you listening all night!

Amazing book
Wow. What an amazing story. I can’t even begin to know how to explain all the nuances this book had. The story was incredibly complex but not so you didn’t understand. The characters were full of depth and complicated. I didn’t see the twists and turns this story took either. I was hooked from the beginning. Wonderful narration too.

I really enjoyed this book. It was suspenseful. A little cheesy at times but I still really liked it.

Just Okay
I found this book just okay. I thought the characters lacked depth and while there was mystery, most of it was easily figured out. However, this is a classic Freethy novel with the usual romance threaded into the mystery.

Loved the mystery
Mystery unraveled slowly but kept me wondering at each step. Different from most plots. Ending was satisfying, tying up all loose ends and emotional bonds with a happy bow.
