Free-spirited and easygoing Taylor Vandenberg left her hometown of Faircombe, Tennessee, as soon as she could, and in the twenty-five years since, she has rarely looked back. She wouldn't change anything about how her life has turned out—having traveled to nearly every country, never staying anywhere long enough to feel stifled. Story
Falling stars are supposed to be a lucky sign, but not for Austen. Her new job as a secretary in an international games company isn't off to a good start. Her first assignment - decorating the Christmas tree in the lobby - results in a trip to the ER after Dee, the company's second-in-command, gets hit by the star-shaped tree topper. Dee blames her instant attraction to Austen on her head wound, not the magic of the falling star. She's determined not to act on it, especially since Austen has no idea that Dee is practically her boss.

Cute, sweet story with just the right amount of passion, doubts, humor and sex. Honestly the sex scenes are amazingly well written and realistic. Narrator Angela Dawe is impressive and moulds her voice to every character effortlessly.

a book is 6☆ when you don't want it to end, it's not original but,,, I simply couldn't get enough, lovable real characters as expected from Jae, with appearances linked to previous stories, though stand alone, there's just more tension wanting Claire and Laura to admit thier feelings, add Angela Dawegasms' sexual narration, sigh, and I'll read again straight away, brilliant.

Really enjoyable
Having listened/read a few by the author, you’ll notice they follow a similar “will they won’t they” build up, sexual tension without excessive cringey scenes like some other LGBTQ+ writers who seem to solely focus on the scenes to the point of only being erotica books with limited storytelling. Fortunately, again, this was not one of those erotica disguised as story (although nothing wrong with a good bit of smut, if that’s what we know we’re getting!)
Nice to see characters crossover as it creates this fun little lesbian world that makes you feel involved and invested in individual characters, would love to hear one voice actress do a whole series to keep the voices they use for each character the same in every book. (I would vote Angela Dawe! She reads excellently and is clearly an actress and not just reading due to having a good tone of voice)
Claire, despite being wealthy, successful, strict and quite stiff, is written so well you feel she’s very relatable even before she starts letting her walls down to her fake new partner. The contrast in characters is very enjoyable and challenging, makes for really fun interactions throughout the whole story.
Worth a read/listen!

Charming, relatable, relaxing
I listened to this after having listened to the book about Steph and Rae, which takes place after this one—I like them both, and in the main the character continuities work, but it bothered me a little that the narrator had chosen to do slightly different voices for some of them (most glaringly, Claire’s mother). I like listening to Angela Dawe, and she does a brilliant job in the main, but sometimes she gets her names mixed up—sometimes, Claire is suddenly Abby, for example, and that just throws me out of the story completely.
As for the story, it’s a charming and very dependable romance. Great for a relaxing Sunday listen.

Fantastic Story!
I would recommend this book to any romantic! These characters are flawed and realistic because of it, the plot goes how you would pretty much expect however, these characters are truly three dimensional and felt like they are real. The narrator gave such a fantastic performance too, very talented as well as being good at accents and different voices.

Not just for show
I love Jae’s work and it gets better and better but what I really liked about this was the characters especially that they reflected really life body sizes. I could relate to Lana who was not a size 6 who ate chocolate and despised salad. Yes the story was predictable but not so much to put me off. Also I loved Lana really sexy voice that’s the best thing about Audio books :)

Great Story!
I really enjoyed this book. While the story was a familiar theme, the fake girlfriend relationship, the telling was well done and filled with emotion and humor. Narrator Angela Dawe is superb doing different voices and accents. Her changes in vocal tone really make you believe there are different characters, each of whom she brings to life. A good story and and great narration make this book a must read!

Seriously, I Loved this Audiobook!
this is the 3rd Jae audiobook I've read/heard and I really liked the first two, but, Just For Show was the best so far. I loved it! I liked the idea of fun, sexy-voiced Lana moving in and making a mess in controlling, workaholic Claire's house. they have a business deal to pretend to be engaged and they've only just met. good thing Lana is an actress... seems simple, and I love it! I really wanted to listen to this in one day but couldn't. really found it hard to stop listening. narrator did an amazing job! l loved Lana's deep voice and fun attitude. great book!

Lovely Romance
What I love about Jae’s books is that I end up happy that the main couple get together.
Just for Show is my favourite fauxmance story and I adore Claire and Lana because they so obviously make each other a more rounded person.
The stakes are personal and equally understandable, the pace of the romance is also quite organic for me. By the time they finally admitted their feelings I was giddy with happiness.
This is the second book I’ve listened to by Angela Dawe and love the smoky voice she uses for Leo from Perfect Rhythm and in this book Lana.
If I had to nitpick I think there was a mistake st 41:48 of chapter 21 of 22. Where she says Abbie instead of Claire but otherwise I loved the emotional inflections Angela infuses her voice with during the emotional scenes and had my heart beating faster during one of the emotionally intense scenes with Lana late in the book.
All in all, you can’t go wrong with this book and like all of Jae’s books if not a direct sequel to something you can jump straight in without worrying about getting lost.

Perfect combination of writer and narrator!
I listened to this the first time a year ago and was craving an Angela Dawe (narrator) fix so decided to revisit it. I'm so glad I did! Though this trope has been done quite a bit, Jae does a better job with it than most. The characters are well fleshed out and engaging and in spite of being polar opposites, they have off the charts chemistry. You can't wait for them to get together. Interestingly, I liked it even more the second time around! Perhaps that's because I've listened to so many audiobooks now that I appreciate when something is especially well done. Regardless, I ate this up with a spoon. The story is thoroughly enjoyable and Angela's talent brings it to the next level. Her Lana voice was so delicious I could listen to it on a loop. And it's not just the one character that appeals. Dawe brings the whole thing to life. When she performs, it's like watching a movie in your head. Jae is a great storyteller and if you read her books you'll find little "gifts" in many of them. She often includes main characters from previous novels as secondary characters in others. Such was the case here. I'd have to put this in the top five of Jae's releases and that's saying a lot because she's got a terrific body of work. If you haven't experienced this on audiobook, do yourself a favor and remedy that. The combination of writer and narrator make this one a must-own.

Funny and Sweet
I loved this book and will likely read it again soon. The humor was A+ and I enjoyed the real differences between the two main characters. I kind of wished something happened between them sooner in the book but the pacing was really good overall. One thing I noticed that should be corrected, is in Chapter 21 at one point Claire is called Abby. It is definitely a slip up that needs to be corrected ASAP. Overall though, this is now one of my favorite books, no doubt.

...aanndd here's yet another favorite by Jae! Woo!
I absolutely loved it, Jae!!! Fantastic job, Angela, as always!! 💕
I especially loved that there are so many psychologists / LPC's in the book. Being that's Jae's past forte, well, she and I have that in common -- the mental health field. Go psychology and counseling (and social work)! Woo! 😜
**SPOILERS**
With that being said. . . I sure would love to read more of Claire & Lana's life together, now that they've found one another! The journey that they both went on, the paths that were taken and crossed for them to meet, despite the circumstances...in all of LA, these two incredible women connected together like puzzle pieces (after awhile -- they had to walk a mile in each other's shoes first). One eventually complementing the other, being strong where the other had a weakness, they both balanced one another like yin & yang. Claire helped Lana work on past traumas causing panic attacks, flashbacks, nightmares (PTSD Dx), and Lana helped Claire not to be so, err, anal-retentive (let your hair down, R-E-L-A-X, woman! "It's just water!" "I'm cooking" We are having sex, are you SERIOUSLY FOLDING THE CLOTHES WE JUST TOOK OFF...your br-...REALLY?! LEAVE THEM ON THE FLOOR. COME HERE! lol.) 😬
Ahem! 🤔
I love the many underlying morals of the book. Like the ones my mama taught me when I was little. Mama said, "Never judge a book by its cover." Stephen Cosgroves said it best in his 'Serendipity' children's book series, "Never, never judge a book by the way you think it's covered, for inside that tattered binding there is a lot to be discovered."
Mama also said, "You cannot buy love."
I'd say they both found A LOT more than they bargained for. Money like the $50,000 offered to Lana for the 'gig' is useless without someone you "actually" love to enjoy it with. And getting your book published is an accomplishment best celebrated with your life partner, the "true" love of your life. Hindsight is 20/20, though, right?
She also taught me that what people think about me doesn't matter, as long as I'm happy, and I'm not hurting anyone , then it shouldn't matter! Who cares what those snobs think about Claire being with Lana. Welllll, "SOCIAL CLASS" this, and "PRIM, THIN, AND PROPER" that. I honestly feel sorry for people stuck in that mindset. Expand your minds! Expand your love! Who cares about what your bosses friend's neighbor's sister thinks. She's gained a little weight? WHO CARES! lmao! If YOU are genuinely happy? That's ALL that MATTERS! LOVE is Love IS Love is LOVE!
The Road Less Traveled is best served with a healthy, hearty helping...of luurrvvee! 💋💗

Deflated and confused
It was ok. Not bad but fell flat. There was nothing that stood out and it was boring. Took awhile to finish as it was so bland. The only reason I didn’t do 2 stars was for Angela Dawe. She was the most redeeming part of the Audible. And I can’t believe I’m thinking and writing this but... I finally heard AD voice a main character I just didn’t like the voice of.
I went into this weary but spent the credit because of great experiences with the narrator and wished I had gotten something else about 20 minutes in.
Sorry. It just felt like a wry formulated student essay, trying to force so many overdone themes and tropes together with not underlying depth of the story, writing, or character development. I guess it was cute as times but I just can’t explain it but it just didn’t make me feel anything but that I had wasted my time.
It’s like waiting for the bass to drop at a show and it just falls with a stumble, a whimper, and everyone is confused and not sure if they’re still waiting for something else or if this DJ was new.
If it’s free and you’re bored... maybe.

Great story. Great listen.
Thank for such a good story. I seemed to get attached to the characters and I was invested in their outcome. And Angela Dawe is fantastic, as always.
