Summary

A bloody van. A motive. No alibi. Nate’s next case is not looking great.

Attorney Nate Shepherd’s newest client stands accused of a fatal hit and run. While Nate doesn’t believe that the CEO of Carrefour’s largest charity would ever smash into a person and flee the scene, a blood-streaked van says otherwise.

A freewheeling prosecutor is certain that Nate’s client did it, and more, that the killing wasn’t an accident at all. With help from old friends and an intriguing new one, Nate uncovers incriminating acts, secret relationships, and a massive motive that has him scrambling for answers.

As the case gets worse, Nate fights to craft a defense. But as trial approaches, one risk grows until it looms over everything else: Will Nate destroy his client’s life by saving his freedom?

Just Plea is the fifth book in the gripping Nate Shepherd Legal Thriller series. If you like razor-sharp dialogue, captivating characters, and riveting trials, you’ll love this fierce courtroom drama by Michael Stagg.

Writing and narration are brilliant

This series of novels are not only fabulously written but beautifully narrated, so much so that you feel your are in the room with not just one person but many people. You will smile, laugh and be taken on an adventure always wondering who could possibly have done it when all the evidence points at the alleged perpetrator. I wanted so much to string this book out a bit as it was the last in the series but I couldn't - I ended up bingeing it when at the end there was a sense of sadness that I would have to wait for the next one! It cannot come soon enough.

An absolute joy

We love this series. With characters you love and those you love to hate, (Mitch Pearson). Plots you can’t second guess that are both interesting and on occasions, educational! George Newbern does a wonderful job of bringing all the characters to life and making for a really good listen. Can’t wait for the next in the series.

Story moves quickly

I do enjoy this narrator and the slight change he puts in his voice to denote the different characters. the story moves quickly but not too quickly that it leaves huge holes. the interplay between the characters is also a nice side bar on occasion.

Fabulous series with great plots full of twists and turns. There’s gentle humour running through these books. Superbly narrated. Please hurry up with the next book. A really great find.

love these books

The plots are unfathomable, enfahing and keep you guessing. But nit so obscure you switch off. The characters are engaging and momentum stays the same throughout the whole book. I found it really difficult to out down. The reader is very good and you get a clear feeling of individuals and who they are. Can't wait to listen to the next one.

Another excellent story which comes a live through the skill of the narrator, this is a very complex case which covers both corporate law and personal loyalty. I am looking forward to the next one this year

Highly recommend

If you enjoy courtroom dramas, the Nate Shepherd series is a must. The characters, story and narration are totally enthralling. It's also refreshing that the five books each have very different characters and storylines.
