Critic reviews

"In Plain Sight, second in the DI Clare Mackay series, echoes the themes of See Them Run, Marion Todd’s debut crime novel: vivid sense of place, strong female lead, authentic police procedure." (Claire Macleary)

Gripping suspense!

Crime suspense that one just can't pause. I love how Marion Todd's plots keeps one wondering until the end who the culprit is. Her narration also adds to the authenticity of the characters in her books. I can not wait to start the next one. As addictive as to me as a cigarette to a chain smoker.

a very enjoyable listen

I really like Marion Todd's style of writing. Good characters and a good few twists in the story. She will leave you guessing until the end. I'm off to find book 3 in the series now.

Gripping

Full of twists, surprises, and a love story, Marion Todd's reading of her book In Plain Sight is a credit to the town of St Andrews, DI Claire Mackay and Marion Todd herself. As an avid and regular visitor to St Andrews, I loved the location scene setting and the references to the surrounding countryside.
Marion Todd and DI Claire Mackay deserve a place up there with the great Scottish crime writing masters. Would thoroughly and completely recommend.

5 1/2 *

A real page turner if there were pages to turn! The characters feel like real people, the story entertaining and a little different to the norm which is welcome when I listen to so many books.

Good story

Ignore the comment about the narrator, there is nothing wrong with her voice and as it’s set in Scotland it suits the book. Jolly good story with clever twist and turns. Looking forward to the next book.

Good story

While I very much enjoyed the plot and characterisation, I find the author's narration very stilted and think someone else could do a better job of bringing her words to life.

Fantastic!

Very well balanced characters and true equality within that. The main character is human and so is everyone else. No dumbed down men to make the women look better. What the author has created is a working team. Fully functioning, realistic characters, who all have pivotal roles that prove their importance in being a part of that team.
I also love that the author reads the book herself. Brilliant!
This is book 2 in the series, and I am about to buy the third.
