Summary
Isabel’s life seemed perfect. Successful business, beautiful house, adoring husband. And then she was dead.
For four years Jessica has never doubted that her sister Isabel’s death was an accident. But when Jessica’s young daughter seems to know long-forgotten details about her aunt’s past, Jessica can’t shake the feeling that there’s a more sinister truth behind the tragedy.
As Jessica unearths disturbing revelations about her sister, and about the people she loved and trusted most, it becomes clear Isabel’s life was less than perfect and that Jessica’s might also be at risk.
Did someone murder Isabel? Are they now after Jessica and her family? The key seems to lie in the hands of a child. Can Isabel reveal the truth from beyond the grave, or is the answer closer to home?
In Her Shadow is a gripping tale of family secrets, lies and obsession from the two million copy bestselling author Mark Edwards.

Very disappointing.
The narrator irritated me for some reason. She didn't really do much in terms of changing her voice for the different characters. Everyone sounded the same and it was hard to focus. The story was quite bland and didn't really go anywhere. The characters were half-baked and all pretty much unlikable. Everything was spelled out for us leaving no room for mystery or intrigue. Overall, this was just not good for me at all. I'm really hesitant to use another credit on this author despite the rave reviews of his previous work. Maybe this was just a rush job or something. But, yeah, I didn't but enjoy this.

Good Read
It was a very enjoyable intriguing story, With an unexpected twist. I can imagine it would make a could short TV series. The narration was really good very clear at a speed that was just right. If I were to say a dislike which is a tad picky the male voices of the narrator weren't always very good. Other than that I would recommend this book.

A "miss" by a good author
I'm a huge fan of Mark Edwards, but this is a miss for me. His work has started to become a bit formulaic.
Here's how they go (warning, semi-spoilers):
Seemingly paranormal things are happening, ten red herring characters are introduced while crazy things go on, then one by one they are eliminated until the very end, where there's one character that is responsible for some of the crazy things but not all of them and another character is actually the main criminal. Then everything wraps up with a little zinger of that original paranormal stuff- a little "what if".
Mostly, I don't mind this formula, but this one was predictable and the story was not very interesting. Side note: the four year old girl Olivia in this book was so spoiled and annoying, it was hard to sit through. If that were my daughter, she would have told me her "secrets" the first time they came up. I think most parents would react that way.
I look forward to Edwards' next book. This was just very underwhelming.

Not really a page-turner
This is not my favorite book by Mark Edwards. Admittedly, I'm not a fan of tales with a supernatural element, and I never became very involved in the storyline. In addition, the characters here seemed to be closer to one-dimensional caricatures than to nuanced human beings. Before the story ended, I stopped caring who had done it.
