Summary

Pirates pacified. Void vanquished. Peace is a fragile beast.

Felix has survived the tribulations of the Void and returned to the Continent. Civilization, at long last. Yet the city of Haarwatch has a terrible new issue.

The Inquisition has arrived to stamp out sorcery and unnatural monstrosities...and Felix still has the Primordial Maw riding shotgun in his soul. Now, he must find his friends and a way to remove a section of his very essence before everything comes crashing down.

All the while, sinister plots in Haarwatch's center promise dire, bloody consequences for anyone who catches the Inquisition’s eye.

Offensively poorly written

Liked the first one but the second installation was pretty bad. This one however, reached new lows...

Full of plot holes, power levels being all over the place and decisions not being in line with the characters or with their possessed knowledge. A lot of what is learned in previous books seems to not be valid anymore or at least skipped over, priorities are also nonsensical.

Narration is quite good though!

It's a bit Meh...

This has the elements of a series that should be good but doesn't quite click, it's just wide of the mark. It's not terrible but I can't really say it's good either, it's meh! The story doesn't make a lot of sense, I know it's fantasy but the plot should at least be clear and i don't mean it has to be linear but I didn't really know what was happening or why and worst of all I didn't really care.

I'm going to give it one last go with the next book but if it's more of the same that will be the end of the road for this series for me.

A great book

This series gets btter and better. I love the world building and how the characters use their skills. Much happens in this book and I look forward to the next. There is intrigue and some nice twists from what I expected to happen.

Pit was impressive in this book I loved his descriptions of people.

The narrator did an outstanding job he really is excellent. The animal sounds can't be easy and I liked his enthusiasm the pace of the narration was perfect too.

There is not too many stat sheets. Overall a most enjoyable listen.

What the heck is going on.

First, let me start by saying I've not finished this yet so I may change this review later.

With that said, what the hell is going on with this? Example:

I have a primal evil in me that's changing me into an evil creature and trying to take over me in its entirety! I'm going to buy some clothes and read books!

Innocent people are being hurt in a raid of monsters, I need to help them! Oh no! The primal is growing, transforming me into something evil, and the hunger is real! I nearly lost myself! I think I'll get my answers from the primal... Hmm, no answers again, shame... (like you've ever got answers so why even ask?) Oh well, I'll go train... How do I train?

Why is the main character doing NOTHING about the primal yet constantly complaining about it? Why is the main character wondering how they should train when they know a master of arms? Just what is going on here? This book is a mess...

*Edit*
Okay. I'm done. The book is absurd.

what I love to see in a series

The story only gets cooler with this entry! I don't like to get too into details - all i'll say is it won't disappoint. if you liked the flow and content of the previous books it only gets better.

The series that keeps getting better.

It was already a good series but man, this one was a great addition. Non stop action, strong character development, and an ever growing world. This book has it all. To top it off, the man, the myth, the legend Travis Baldree knocks it out of the park.

Great! But...

While I enjoyed this story, there were times when things seemed overly complicated or "busy".

Another great entry

First of all, this book is a beast. Weighing in at a little over 28 hours. There is a lot of like here: the characters, the plot, the action and the narration. All in all, it is a really fun book.

Who doesn’t love an OP MC?

This story just gets better and better. The separate stories all tying together. Some big twists in this. Also possibly the best companion in a book ever? Great series, can’t wait to read the next one.

no new content

the same old stuff from the last books, a new area yes, new people yes. but the same old skills same old struggle with the Maw that's supposedly dead yet can pretty much do whatever it wants inside him as a freaking ghost DUMB. they will spend all this time reading all 50 of his skills every chapter yet he only uses at the max 4. it so repetitive. the sad thing is that it had so much potential.
