About this listen
Kennedy Ryan presents book three in the Hoops series.
A deeply emotional, standalone romance set in the worlds of professional basketball and high fashion.
Divorced. Single dad. Traded to a losing squad.
Cheated on, betrayed, exposed. My perfect life blew up in my face, and I'm still picking up the pieces. The last thing I need is her.
A wildflower. A storm. A woman I can't resist.
Lotus DuPree is a kick to my gut and a wrench in my plans from the moment our eyes meet. I promised myself I wouldn't trust a woman again, but I've never wanted anyone the way I want Lo. She's not the plan I made, but she's the risk I have to take.
A warrior. A baller. The one they call Gladiator.
Kenan Ross charged into my life smelling all good, looking even better, and snatching my breath from the moment we met. The last thing I need is him. I’m working on me. Facing my pain and conquering my demons. I've seen what trusting a man gets you.
I. Don't. Have. Time. For. This.
But he just keeps coming for me. Keeps knocking down my defenses and stealing my excuses one by one. He never gives up, and now...I'm not sure I want him to.

Beautifully Written
This is such a tough story but Kennedy did it with so much sensitivity Kennedy is a master of words. Kenan is so patient with Lotus even before he has details of her childhood trauma. Loved this series all three survivors pulled at my hard strings theres dark moments in all three books. Jakobi and Mia were just perfect together. I would recommend others to read this series.

Another gem!
Great storyline with a touch of culture intricately entwined. Characters are flawed, as we all are, but find their way to truth.

Raw, Real, Beautiful.
“I want to try with you. I want you.”
I am blown away by the care and sensitivity with which Ryan writes these stories. Lotus is a child sa survivor grappling with how to have intimacy with a partner, and Ryan gives us all the dark emotions, frustrations, uncertainty, and healing. There are other tough subjects covered, so it may be best to check your tr!ggers. This is another book that hit for me. I have connected with all three heroines in this series in different ways.
Keenan is Lotus’s hero, and he is quite literally that–a hero. He is patient even when he doesn’t have details. I love that these two got to know each other on a deep level before getting physically intimate. With tough subject matter for both MCs, this isn’t an easy read, but it made me feel heard and seen.
Mia is softly spoken as Lotus, giving us her tentativeness, but we see her bloom. Jakobi was perfect as Keenan. He has a voice that just feels like home. It’s warm and calm but then when Keenan is outraged on Lotus’s behalf, we really feel it.
Ryan really puts her characters through the wringer, but isn’t that life? Life isn’t all hearts and flowers, and yes, there is definitely a place for those kinds of romances, but these hard-hitting, raw ones are the ones that stick with me for a long time. The ones where I can connect deeply with the characters. The ones that affect me emotionally. The ones that teach me something. Those are the ones that hit my highlight list, that I will recommend over and over, that will live rent-free in my head.
If you can handle the subject matter, I urge you to read or listen to this whole series. Ryan writes with such authenticity. Sometimes survivors don’t want to be fixed, they just want to be heard and seen.

LOVED THIS!!!
OMG. Kennedy Ryan is a genius. This book had me feeling happy, sad, dread, wonder, fear... I was just rooting for the main characters on their own personal journeys. Loved how characters from the 'Flow' / 'Grip' / 'Still' books were woven in too.

Gosh! 💖 love this couple 💗
Whilst this has a bit of dark in it, as we finally find out the details of what happened to Lotus, and her trauma catches up with her. It's still beautiful, sweet and spicy too. Much lighter than book 1 (even with the child sa).
Age gap, slow burn 🔥, second chance, contemporary romance with a hint of magic (in a form of voodoo).
Free on KU and plus catalogue audible too.
The narration was outstanding. Jakobi Diem is always amazingly good. Mia Ellis was also excellent.

Overwhelming tough story but beautifully written
I don't know how Kennedy does it, she has the ability to make you feel everything the characters go through. It really didn't need to the smutty scenes, it would still have been a stunning read for me.

Long
very long. Kennedy Ryan could have told this story in less words, not as gripping as the other 2 in the series.
