Summary

Big-city Nate isn’t about to fall for a small-town man.

An unassuming town. A huge development deal. Nate has it all figured out, until his car breaks down and threatens to ruin everything. The local mechanic has a way with his hands that fantasies are made of, but Nate can’t afford to get wrapped around Ian’s finger.

A few sweaty nights tangled up together should be enough to scratch the itch, and the chemistry between them is hot enough to burn. But there’s something about the mechanic that keeps Nate coming back for more.

When Nate’s boss puts the pressure on, he’ll need to decide if he’s ready to risk everything. Can he give up the deal of a lifetime for a chance at love? Or, will he sell the town and sell out his heart along with it?

Three great stories

I selected this to listen to because the description of Nate's and Ian's story reminded of one of my all time favorite Christmas movies, The Christmas Gift, with John Denver. In that one, there is attempted skullduggery by a developer until his representative falls for a small town and in particular, one of its residents and then has to try to save the town and the relationship. This author's take on that story did not disappoint. It was my clear favorite in this bundle. However, the other stories were equally well written and the couples in each had some satisfying obstacles to overcome to get their HEA. The heat level was high but not dark. The performance by Richard Reynolds was excellent. The voices were well delineated and remained consistent throughout. He hit just the right emotional notes without ever becoming melodramatic or over the top. Will definitely be listening to Nate and Ian again!

Filled with humour and spiciness

I really enjoyed these books. The stories have lots of different characters who are all unique and special in their own way.

The chemistry in all the pairings was off the charts. The plots we're thick with angst, intrigue and gooey moments that make listeners/readers swoon.

The narration was good. His pacing was good, though there were times it was a bit spaced out. his tone and passion were excellent. He brought oomph to his scenes. His was always crisp and clear and I found no problem in keeping with the story and staying interested.

Reynolds brought life to the story, and I would list to his narration again.

A bit of a miss for me

Overall, this was a nice set of 4 books, each with the same group of characters, and all with their own HEA's. I had a rough time getting into some of them and felt like they either dragged or the story line went way too fast for the characters. I don't think this author is a great fit for me.

Great collection

Great collection of small town romances, great characters and a full range of stories with all sorts of tropes. I particularly enjoyed the character development of each MC, they all had their issues and absolutely thrived after meeting “The One”.

Home Truths - bang for your buck

The Home Truths box set was a good listen. The narrator felt a bit new, and so it was a tad wonky for me at first, but the further in and a speed up later, it was okay. I like all the stories. The last one did have some continuity issues that I noticed, and they all were super insta, but I still enjoyed them. My rating might be a tad lower on some, but I went with the overall listening experience coupled with the amount you get in the box set.

Wow!!!!

I honestly love a good series. The fact that this bundle kept me riveted is no exception. I absolutely enjoyed the characters but Tyler and Patrick are my favorite. The narration is lovely and kept me wondering what happens next. The storylines are well written lending to interesting plots and charming characters.

4 love stories in Three Lakes :)

I haven't read the stories, but jumped at the chance to listen them, So glad I did.

Home Truths: Really enjoyed Nate & Ian's story, the progression from a stranger (Ian) helping Nate with his car to them becoming friendly, then even more 'friendly' 😉, to developing a relationship was fun to listen to. There is a bit of tension considering that Nate has a timeline, but it works out in the end.

Crossroads: This story had a bit more of a serious tone, tad more angst, but also quite good. Corey has been abandoned by his abusive and shady BF; Brady steps in to help. In the end, the small town helps Corey to feel safe and belong. While I wasn't prepared for the more serious tone of this story, I did enjoy it.

Making Peace - A second chance, hurt/comfort story. Max and Carson were really good together, (this time around), once Carson understood who he was. Sweet story.

Healing His Heart - This, IMO was the most emotional? Tyler and Patrick were so good together, however Patrick had used a bit of subterfuge to be with Tyler, so when that unraveled it was painful. But, a good story overall :)

Richard Reynolds is new to me. I was happy to listen to the stories because he had a good range and characterisation for each character. I had no trouble following the characters or the thread of the stories. I would definitely listen to him narrate other books.

Overall ok

I really love the first book, it was 5 a stars listen and I couldn't put it down. The characters were likeable and believable, The story have a good pace and kept me engaged, never bored. The second book was ok, was a little too cheese for my taste. The last two were unremarkable, I can't even remember which one was what.

Mind you that all books are cute, low angst stories. Overall they were ok and I enjoyed reading, but I think it would be better listen to them with some time in between, otherwise they all mingle together.

The narrator was good, but I felt like he was not telling a storing but just reading a script. The characters were difficult to distinguished and there was little emotion.
